Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President/Chief Information Officer, the Technology Solutions Analyst is a technical generalist who partners with academic and administrative departments across the College to analyze business needs, design technology-enabled solutions, and deliver measurable outcomes using modern enterprise platforms and tools. The Technology Solutions Analyst combines business analysis, system configuration, integration support, and collaborative problem-solving to improve institutional workflows, data quality, operational efficiency, and the overall student and employee experience. Working closely with ITS and functional stakeholders, the Technology Solutions Analyst helps translate technology investments into sustainable, user-centered solutions that support institutional goals and continuous improvement initiatives. The Technology Solutions Analyst will support solution adoption through documentation, training, and ongoing process evaluation.

Job Duties

  • 25% - Solutions Analysis and Design - Partner with departments to understand business objectives, analyze existing workflows, and identify opportunities for improvement through process change, automation, or integration. Translate functional requirements into practical technical solutions, balancing speed, maintainability, and institutional fit. Document current-state and future-state workflows, data flows, and integration points. Support and enhance Identity and Access Management tools and processes to improve security, provisioning, and user access workflows. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Integration and Automation Development - Design, build, and maintain integrations between enterprise systems using Occidental's TeamDynamix iPaaS platform. Develop SQL queries, light scripts (Python, PowerShell, or similar), and API-based automations to support reporting, data movement, and workflow needs. Configure SaaS applications and low-code tools to meet functional requirements without unnecessary custom development. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Enterprise Systems Support - Contribute to ongoing work across Occidental's enterprise systems, including Ellucian Banner, Canvas, Google Workspace, and related platforms. Support modernization initiatives such as ERP/HCM evaluation, integration architecture, and data governance implementation. Collaborate with ITS colleagues, vendor partners, and manage service providers to troubleshoot issues and deliver projects. - (Essential)
  • 15% - AI-Enabled Productivity and Enablement - Use Occidental's enterprise AI tools (Google Gemini for Education and Microsoft Copilot) to accelerate analysis, documentation, prototyping, and routine work. Help campus colleagues understand where AI tools add value and where they don't, consistent with Occidental's data classification and AI usage policies. Stay current on emerging AI and automation capabilities relevant to higher education administration. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Project Delivery and Adoption - Manage project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communication for assigned initiatives. Develop user documentation, training materials, and knowledge-based content that support real adoption - not just rollout. Conduct user acceptance testing, gather feedback, and iterate solutions after deployment. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, business, or a related field relevant to the position duties, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Five years of experience in a hybrid technical/analytical role such as solutions analyst, business systems analyst, technical project lead, or similar.
  • Knowledge of SQL and at least one scripting language such as Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • Skilled in working with enterprise systems such as Ellucian Banner, Workday, Salesforce, Slate, Canvas, or comparable platforms.
    Knowledge of modern integration, authentication, and data exchange concepts, including APIs, webhooks, OAuth/SAML, and JSON/XML.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and translate complex concepts into clear, understandable information.
  • Ability to learn new tools, technologies, and platforms quickly and independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong commitment to a quality work product.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or another mission-driven environment. Hands-on experience with an integration platform (TeamDynamix iPaaS, Boomi, MuleSoft, SnapLogic, or similar).
  • Experience using enterprise AI tools (Copilot, Gemini, or comparable) in a professional setting.
  • Understanding of data governance, FERPA, or higher-education compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting ERP, HCM, or CRM modernization initiatives.

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE:  $73,900/yr-$105,500/yr

If you are offered this position at Occidental College, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and/or geographic location. In addition to those factors, Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.  We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
