TECHNOLOGY MANAGER

The Technology Manager is responsible for accomplishing the Euclid Public Library’s mission by developing, implementing and coordinating the library’s electronic environment and supervising the Technology staff. Position duties include: overseeing the maintenance and operation of the library’s technology and computer equipment and related software applications; developing and administering department budget; acting as the library’s technology liaison with CLEVNET; maintaining the library’s cybersecurity program; and acting as a member of the library’s management team.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent related degree, or a combination of education, training and related work experience. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in libraries with progressive levels of responsibility. A record of success in supervising and directing the work of others. Experience working in the public sector preferred. Must be able to pass a background check for the Euclid Public Library and the State of Ohio Computer Center.
Work hours: 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday – 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

Starting Salary (per year): $82,374.66 with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, life, PTO, sick, and other employee benefits.

The Technology Manager is responsible for accomplishing this mission by developing, implementing and coordinating the library’s electronic environment and facilitating electronic training

POSITION DUTIES
* Assigns work and delegates responsibility
* Assists departments with evaluation and selection of electronic resources
* Assists with establishing and maintaining order in the library
* Attends meetings and serves on internal and external committees
* Coordinates the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of
electronic services
* Coordinates the purchase of hardware and software
* Determines necessary staffing and recommends staffing levels
* Develops and administers department budget
* Develops and/or conducts in-service training on emerging technologies, equipment,
and new software applications
* Directs staff by coaching, training, counseling, and disciplining employees, and planning,
monitoring and appraising job results
* Ensures effective communication of information to all department employees
* Interviews candidates for positions and recommends hiring
* Keeps up-to-date with new practices, trends, and standards in the field
by reading journals, attending professional meetings and conferences
* Maintains internal network and its security
* Oversees the maintenance of the library’s website and server infrastructure
* Participates in strategic planning process
* Prepares department work schedule; verifies time sheets
* Prepares monthly and annual department reports
* Resolves problems with computer network, hardware, and software applications
* Responsible for overall systems planning, design, operation and maintenance
* Reviews policies and procedures and recommends changes
* Serves as a member of the Administrative Team
* Serves as contact person with CLEVNET for technology and phone issues

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and/or Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent related degree, or a
combination of education, training and related work experience.
* Minimum of three (3) years' experience with progressive levels of responsibility
* Working knowledge of LAN/WAN/”SAN” client-server technology, telecommunications
networks, and application software
* A record of success in supervising and directing the work of others; or an
equivalent combination of education, training and experience
* Experience working in the public sector, preferred
* Must be able to pass a background check for the Euclid Public Library and the State
of Ohio Computer Center
* Valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Nature of work requires the ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods and operate standard office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set up and maintain work files. Requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. and spend extended time using a keyboard, monitor and mouse or other input and display devices.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work performed in a general library/office environment. Position may require availability for extended hours as needed, including evenings and weekends. Occasional day and overnight travel by air or automobile will be required for meetings and conferences. Position requires periodic participation and attendance at events and meetings.
