Area Manager – Commercial Cleaning Services

Schedule: Monday–Friday evenings with shift beginning at 4:30 pm into the night and occasional weekends
Pay: $46,000–$50,000 total compensation per year, depending on experience

Applicants for the Area Manager position must have a clean background check, a valid Ohio driver's license and a clean driving record (4 points or less and no SR22 bond) as you will be driving a company vehicle.

About the Position

Circle Building Services is looking for a self-motivated, dependable, and customer-focused Area Manager to oversee commercial cleaning operations throughout the Columbus area.

The Area Manager will be responsible for ensuring our customers receive consistently high-quality service while supporting and managing our cleaning teams. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys being out in the field, solving problems, building relationships, and holding teams accountable.

The ideal candidate has experience in commercial cleaning, facilities management, hospitality, operations, or another service-based industry. We are looking for someone who can lead people, communicate professionally with staff, and take ownership of their accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations for assigned commercial cleaning accounts.
• Conduct regular inspections and quality-control visits.
• Ensure buildings are cleaned according to company and customer standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with staff.
• Respond quickly and professionally to customer concerns and service requests.
• Manage, train, coach, and hold cleaning employees accountable.
• Assist  with onboarding new cleaning staff.
• Monitor employee attendance, performance, and productivity.
• Coordinate coverage for call-offs, vacations, and staffing shortages.
• Ensure cleaning supplies, chemicals, equipment, and uniforms are available when needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve cleaning quality and operational efficiency.
• Document inspections, customer issues, corrective actions, and follow-ups.
• Work with management to resolve employee and customer issues.
• Assist with new account startups and transitions.
• Help establish cleaning schedules, staffing requirements, and work assignments.
• Perform periodic night and evening visits to inspect accounts and support cleaning teams.
• Ensure employees follow company safety procedures and proper chemical-handling practices.
• Assist with emergency cleaning situations and special projects when needed.
• Communicate account updates and operational issues to company leadership.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism when representing Circle Building Services.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of management, supervisory, commercial cleaning, facilities, hospitality, or related experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to identify problems and find practical solutions.
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Ability to travel between customer locations throughout the Columbus area.
• Ability to work all evenings and weekends when necessary.
• Comfortable using a smartphone, email, and basic computer applications.
• Must be willing to get out in the field and lead by example.
