Description
Position Overview:
Detroit Defense is seeking a Technical Documentation Specialist to support complex Department of Defense programs by developing, maintaining, and improving technical documentation used for system verification, deployment, and operational readiness. This role collaborates with engineering, information technology, and program teams to ensure documentation is accurate, current, and aligned with system requirements throughout the program lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation supporting system verification, deployment, and operational activities.
• Create and revise procedures, work instructions, and technical guides using digital documentation tools.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to ensure documentation accurately reflects system configurations and requirements.
• Maintain documentation in accordance with configuration management and document control processes.
• Support testing and validation efforts by preparing documentation required for system verification activities.
• Coordinate documentation updates resulting from software releases, system modifications, and engineering changes.
• Track documentation revisions and maintain version control throughout the program lifecycle.
• Utilize automated tools to improve documentation accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives related to technical documentation and configuration management.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Two (2) or more years of experience developing and maintaining technical documentation supporting system verification, testing, deployment, or operational activities.
• Experience utilizing digital or automated documentation tools within a technical or engineering environment.
• Ability to organize and maintain configuration-controlled documentation.
• Experience interpreting technical requirements and translating them into clear procedural documentation.
• Active DoD security clearance (level commensurate with program requirements).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Powershell, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Windows Server, Windows Client, VMware, Ansible, Cisco technologies, Trellix, Aruba networking, Cloud computing platforms, CMPro, SMART, Jira
• Experience supporting Department of Defense, Navy, or other government technical programs.
• Familiarity with systems verification, software deployment, or configuration management processes.
• Experience working in highly regulated or mission-critical technical environments.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
