Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to join our team at L3Harris. This position is responsible for creating, developing, planning, writing, and editing installation, operational, and manufacturing manuals for product customer deliverables.

Essential Functions:

  • Generate technical manuals and processes using technical inputs from engineering and operations departments as part of cross-functional team.
  • Document and maintain technical data related to the manufacturing and integration of product lines.
  • Conduct interviews with various users and technical staff to develop product documentation.
  • Produce documentation that is responsive to use cases.
  • Author documentation in Adobe RoboHelp, have knowledge and use of GIT, Visual Studio Code, SharePoint, Windchill, and Azure Devops tools.
  • Work under general supervision on large projects, manage multiple assignments independently, and track and report status on project progress to key stakeholders.
  • Explain and interpret processes and procedures to others both within and outside of the job area.
  • Garner cooperation from SMEs regarding processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Solve problems by drawing from prior experiences and through analysis of the issues.
  • Adhere to a style guide, peer review others work, and accept feedback on quality and accuracy of own writing.
  • Manage data to support engineering and technical writing deliverables using Windchill and Creoview.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Adobe programs, particularly RoboHelp and Photoshop.
  • Experience with Windchill and Creoview.
  • Experience with single source authoring.
  • Experience in Agile, iterative development, and/or SCRUM development.
  • Experience documenting software releases, interactive technical manuals, Quick Reference Guides, Training Materials, and Help Sites.
  • Experience with software code, especially HTML, CSS, XML, or JSON.
  • Knowledge of data management practices and configuration management documentation.
