We are currently seeking a Technical Coordinator for our Mechanical and Chemical testing labs at our Natrona Heights, PA Operations. This position is responsible for entering and validating test data in our internal systems, resolving test kickouts and discrepancies and logging in samples in the Chemistry lab, expediting samples and coordinating flow of information to internal customers. This information facilitates production and shipment of material from various locations and ultimately is recorded on the certificate of tests, which are sent to our customers.

Essential Functions

  • Enter and validate all mechanical and chemical testing data into our internal systems. Data is obtained from various sources, including test worksheets, lab manifests and outside lab reports. Data includes tensile, corrosion, metallography, chemistry and other types of testing of metals.
  • Refer test discrepancies to the responsible metallurgist for resolution.
  • Review production reports for priority testing.
  • Respond to priority requests from metallurgy, sales and production groups to release material for shipping of coils & plates to customers.
  • Effectively communicate and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Chemistry Lab functions include logging in samples for chemical testing, routing samples to appropriate areas for specific testing, entering in various chemistry data and validating results.
  • Maintain and update working procedures applicable to this job description.
  • File and maintain all paper records of tests performed in both labs and prepare boxes for record retention.
