Job description

Job Summary:
Northwestern State University is seeking a motivated and experienced individual for the role of Technical Assistance Center (TAC) Specialist. This position involves assisting faculty, staff, and students with technology challenges, providing support for computer hardware and software, and ensuring compliance with university security policies.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Assisting faculty, staff, and students on their technology challenges
โ€ข Provide purchasing information to users on request
โ€ข Provide consultation to departments when making technology purchases
โ€ข Configure and connect devices to the network
โ€ข Setup, install, configure, and repair computer hardware, peripherals, and software
โ€ข Setup and maintain departmental labs
โ€ข Provide application support, such as Microsoft Office, Internet browsers, email, and other office productivity packages
โ€ข Able to physically relocate hardware on campus and complete inventory control procedures
โ€ข Ensure that all systems installed follow University security policies
โ€ข Document closed service requests utilizing a work order system
โ€ข Provide support (including periodic on-site visits) to Leesville, Alexandria, Shreveport, and satellite campuses
โ€ข Assist with setup of events on campus when needed
โ€ข Demonstrate the right balance of technical and customer service skills
โ€ข Create and maintain documentation on systems and procedures
โ€ข Create and manage user tutorials
โ€ข Provide support for both Windows and Mac OS based computers
โ€ข Provide support for mobile devices based on iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile
โ€ข Install and maintain printers, both network and local
โ€ข Diagnose problems and implement solutions in a timely manner
โ€ข Always conduct support in a friendly and professional manner
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Must have good written and oral communications skills
โ€ข Must be able to work within a team-oriented environment
โ€ข Must have organization and priority management skills
โ€ข Relevant experience with installing, troubleshooting, configuring, and maintaining computing systems and applications required
โ€ข Must be able to move and handle technology components and devices
Preferred:
โ€ข Earned College degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred but not required
โ€ข Relevant experience in a campus environment highly desired
โ€ข Relevant experience in providing user support or customer service
โ€ข Relevant professional technology certifications are highly desired
