OverviewDescription

Our client, a federal contractor supporting the U.S. Department of War (DoW) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is seeking an experienced Technical Director - C5ISR to serve as a senior technical subject matter expert (SME) responsible for systems architecture, systems integration, and advanced Command & Control (C2) software solutions supporting mission-critical defense programs.

This role is highly technical and hands-on, with a primary focus on systems integration, technical assessments, strategic and tactical product development, and C5ISR solution architecture. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in integrated mission systems, software-enabled command and control environments, and complex defense technology ecosystems while supporting proposal and capture activities for new business opportunities.

The Technical Director will work closely with engineering teams, executive leadership, customers, and industry partners to deliver scalable, secure, and interoperable mission solutions aligned with evolving operational requirements.

The role emphasizes systems solutions that involve sensor integration, secure communication networks, command and control (C2), hybrid power generation systems for deployment of border/perimeter security and surveillance systems in locations that range from urban to austere environments. Additionally, the applications include Counter-UAS Detect, Track, Identify, and Defeat systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead systems architecture and systems integration efforts across advanced C5ISR platforms and mission systems. 
  • Serve as the organization's technical SME for Command & Control (C2) software solutions, integrated mission systems, and operational technologies. 
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership supporting system interoperability, architecture design, integration planning, and technical execution. 
  • Conduct technical assessments and support strategic and tactical product planning initiatives. 
  • Lead integration activities across hardware, software, communications, networking, and mission systems components. 
  • Support engineering teams in implementing scalable and secure C5ISR solutions aligned with mission and operational requirements. 
  • Collaborate with government customers, technical stakeholders, subcontractors, and industry partners to develop and refine technical solutions. 
  • Support proposal development, technical capture strategies, solution architecture, and customer engagement activities for new business opportunities. 
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, mission requirements, and industry trends to support innovation and product advancement. 
  • Ensure systems comply with applicable cybersecurity, interoperability, and federal defense standards. 
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineering personnel while supporting technical excellence across programs. 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting C4ISR/C5ISR systems, mission systems integration, or defense technologies. 
  • Strong experience in systems architecture, systems integration, and Command & Control (C2) software environments. 
  • Demonstrated expertise supporting complex integrated defense systems involving hardware, software, networking, and mission applications. 
  • Experience conducting technical assessments and supporting strategic technology initiatives. 
  • Strong understanding of defense technology ecosystems, interoperability requirements, and mission systems integration. 
  • Experience supporting proposal development, technical capture activities, and customer-facing technical engagements. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and executive stakeholders. 
  • Must be able to work full-time on-site in Gilbert, AZ during core business hours (8:30 AM - 5:30 PM). 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline. 
  • Experience supporting DHS and/or DoW mission programs. 
  • Experience supporting tactical systems, command centers, surveillance technologies, or autonomous platforms. 
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications, advanced mission software, or data analytics within defense systems. 
  • PMP, CISSP, or other relevant industry certifications. 
  • Experience with strategic product planning and advanced mission system architectures. 
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance preferred. 

Eligibility:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, the candidate's experience, education, skills, and the specific requirements of the contract.

Range: $160,000 - $180,000
