Job description

By the Sea Resorts is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer for our properties in beautiful Panama City Beach, FL. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all facilities and equipment at two By the Sea Resorts hotels. They oversee a team of maintenance technicians and ensure that all hotel standards are met. The Chief Engineer must be able to manage staff effectively, resolve problems quickly and efficiently, and have a strong understanding of hotel engineering systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all facilities and equipment at two By the Sea Resorts hotels, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances
  • Manage a team of maintenance technicians and ensure that they are meeting all hotel standards
  • Schedule maintenance shifts and assign tasks
  • Train new maintenance technicians
  • Inspect hotel facilities and equipment to identify and repair any problems
  • Resolve guest complaints and issues related to maintenance
  • Order and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
  • Develop and implement new maintenance procedures and policies
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices
  • Work with the Area Maintenance Manager to develop and implement the hotels' overall maintenance budget

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a hotel engineering role, including at least 2 years of experience as a chief engineer
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to resolve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Strong understanding of hotel engineering systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
