Job description

Refrigeration Engineer (Seasonal)

The Refrigeration Engineer is responsible for maintaining and repairing the facilitys industrial ammonia refrigeration systems, including tunnel freezers, blast cell freezers, and flake ice production equipment. This position reports directly to the Chief Engineer.

This is a seasonal role, typically running from May through August. Due to the nature of seafood processing, extended work hours are expected during peak production, including 12+ hour shifts, seven days per week as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on all plant refrigeration systems

  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure continuous product flow

  • Complete all work and required documentation in compliance with the plants safety programs

  • Follow all requirements of the facilitys Process Safety Management (PSM) program for ammonia refrigeration

  • Maintain safe, organized, and compliant work areas

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Prior experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems

  • Ability to work long hours during peak production periods

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

  • Consistent and reliable attendance is essential

  • Familiarity with basic electrical systems and welding is a plus

  • Overtime pay in Alaska after 8 regular hours per day and 40 hours per week

  • Transportation provided from the nearest major airport to the worksite and return transportation upon successful completion of the season
