What is talent relations?

Talent relations refers to the area of human resources or entertainment management focused on managing relationships between an organization and its talent, such as actors, musicians, athletes, or employees. Professionals in talent relations handle recruitment, contracts, conflict resolution, and ensure positive working relationships to foster a productive environment. They often serve as a liaison between talent and management, ensuring clear communication and addressing any issues that may arise. Their goal is to retain top performers and maintain a positive reputation for the organization.

How does a talent relations professional typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Talent Relations professionals work closely with HR, management, and department leads to ensure effective communication between employees and leadership. They often mediate conflicts, support performance management processes, and help develop engagement strategies. Collaboration is essential, as Talent Relations must understand the needs and concerns of both staff and management, providing guidance on policy interpretation and fostering a positive work environment. Their role is highly interactive and requires strong interpersonal skills to build trust across all levels of the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a talent relations professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Talent Relations professional, you need a strong background in human resources, employment law, and conflict resolution, often backed by a relevant degree or HR certification. Familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS), case management platforms, and compliance tracking tools is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and discretion set top performers apart in this field. These competencies are crucial for fostering positive workplace environments, ensuring compliance, and effectively managing sensitive employee matters.

Position Overview

As a Talent Relations Specialist, you'll be the trusted connection between our employees and our clients. You'll help ensure every employee has a positive experience from onboarding through assignment completion while providing exceptional service to the businesses we support.

You'll wear many hats—employee advocate, client partner, recruiter, coach, and problem-solver. One day you may be welcoming new hires during orientation, the next resolving an employee concern, checking in with a client, helping to recruit for an urgent opening, or celebrating an employee's success on assignment.

Every interaction matters. You'll help people succeed at work while strengthening relationships that keep our clients coming back.

What You'll Do
  • Build trusted relationships with employees and clients while delivering an exceptional employment experience.
  • Support employees from onboarding through assignment completion, including payroll, benefits, and employment-related questions.
  • Partner with clients to resolve employee relations concerns, coordinate workers' compensation, conduct quality check-ins, and ensure successful assignments.
  • Manage timekeeping, employment documentation, onboarding, and compliance processes with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Represent ABR in the community while helping employees and clients succeed together.
Highlights of Employment at ABR

Competitive starting salary: $65,000 annually
Starting compensation may vary based on relevant experience and qualifications.

  • Four weeks of paid time off, accrued annually
  • Quartz HMO Health Insurance and Delta Dental
  • 100% company-paid Vision, Life, and Disability Insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Ongoing professional development and career advancement opportunities
  • A collaborative, supportive team
  • A career where your work has a meaningful impact every day
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in customer service, employee relations, staffing, recruiting, HR, or account management.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to build trust with employees, clients, and coworkers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and recruiting or applicant tracking systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of employment law, EEO, ADA, and HR compliance is a plus.
  • Self-motivated professional who enjoys helping people solve problems and succeed.
Why You'll Love Working at ABR

At ABR, Talent Relations is about much more than answering questions onboarding—it's about creating exceptional experiences for the people we employ and the businesses we serve.
You'll welcome new employees, help resolve challenges before they become problems, celebrate employee successes, and strengthen client partnerships that fuel our continued growth.
