Job description

Business Development Associate

Location: Remote (U.S.-based) · Type: Full-Time · Reports To: Head of Business Development · Company: Beacon Talent

$110,000–$120,000 OTE · 50/50 base/variable · Uncapped commission · Clear path to carrying your own quota

About Beacon Talent

Beacon Talent is a boutique executive search and recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) partner serving venture-backed and growth-stage companies. We partner with founders, investors, and executive teams to build high-performing leadership teams and scalable hiring processes — for clients ranging from seed-stage startups to pre-IPO tech companies, across product, engineering, GTM, operations, and beyond.

We're operators and talent practitioners at heart. With a combined 30+ years recruiting, consulting, and leading teams at organizations like Google, Expedia, Airbnb, and Hired, we set out to build a new kind of talent organization — one made for modern companies.

And those modern companies are some of the most exciting in tech — backed by top-tier funds like Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Sequoia, Benchmark, Greylock, Accel, Lightspeed, General Catalyst, and Founders Fund. When you sell for Beacon, you're opening doors at the companies shaping what's next.

The Role

We're scaling our sales organization and looking for a Business Development Associate who sells the way we serve our clients: consultatively. This is not a spray-and-pray, dial-for-dollars job. It's a role for someone who leads with curiosity, takes the time to understand a prospect's business, and earns trust before asking for the meeting.

You'll start at the top of the funnel — researching accounts, crafting thoughtful outreach, and booking discovery meetings alongside our Head of Business Development. As you sharpen your skills and build a track record, you'll earn the opportunity to carry your own quota, run deals end-to-end, and grow into a full-cycle seller. Your commission is uncapped, so as you take on more, your earnings grow right along with you.

Who You Are
  • Curiosity & business acumen. You're genuinely interested in how companies work, what they're building, and the problems they're trying to solve. You do your homework before you reach out, and it shows.
  • A consultative, empathetic seller. You put others first. You seek to understand the feelings and motivations of the people you talk to so you can offer real solutions to real problems — not a canned pitch.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication. Your ability to collect, synthesize, and socialize key information — regardless of medium — is unparalleled.
  • Tenacity and determination. You're not afraid of rejection and can persevere through tough stretches without losing your standards.
  • Results-oriented. You make decisions with an objective-driven approach and solve problems in order to hit goals.
  • Coachable. You have a strong desire to grow personally and professionally. You listen, seek to understand, and apply feedback to continuously improve.
  • Organized & on top of your time. You adhere to established processes and best practices, prioritize and plan your day, and follow through reliably on your commitments.
What You'll Do
  • Identify prospective customers and run targeted, creative outreach (email, social, phone, physical mail, and more) to book discovery meetings with qualified leads.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Beacon's mission, vision, service offering, value proposition, and ideal customer profile — and use it to tailor every conversation.
  • Maintain relationships with qualified prospects through consistent, value-add touchpoints over email and LinkedIn.
  • Use our CRM to track, record, and maintain the accuracy of our sales pipeline.
  • Participate in discovery meetings with our Head of Business Development, capturing notes and next steps in our CRM.
  • Partner with our Head of Business Development to hit our quarterly revenue targets.
  • Test and provide feedback on positioning and messaging to continuously improve our go-to-market.
  • Grow into ownership. As you ramp, take on your own pipeline and quota and run deals from first touch to close.
Why You Should Apply
  • Quality > Quantity. This is not a high-volume sales role. We care more about the quality of the accounts you help us bring on than the raw count. You'll have real time to research accounts, test creative outreach, and build long-term relationships.
  • Sustainable > Fast. Beacon is run by a mature leadership team with a long-term perspective that prioritizes sustainable growth over speed. We win when our clients win — which means continuously improving our service and never cutting corners.
  • Career > Job. As a services firm, our people are our greatest asset. We invest in your training and development and give you a real path forward — from booking meetings to carrying your own quota and owning deals. It's the right thing to do, and it's smart business.
  • Direct access to the ecosystem. Work alongside founders, VCs, and executive teams at some of the most exciting early-stage companies in the U.S.
  • Room to grow. Learn from experienced operators in a collaborative, high-trust environment, with flexible remote work, opportunities for advancement, and a mission-driven culture.
Compensation

This is a commission-driven role with meaningful, uncapped upside.

  • $110,000–$120,000 OTE, split 50/50 between base salary and variable commission
  • Uncapped commission — your earning potential scales directly with the accounts you bring on, and strong performers can earn beyond OTE
  • As you take on your own quota, your upside grows with you

We're looking for someone who's energized by that kind of performance-based model and motivated to grow their impact alongside the firm.

Come As You Are

At Beacon, we don't just accept differences — we celebrate them, we support them, and we thrive on them for the benefit of our employees, our customers, and our community. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. If you're good at what you do, come as you are. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. Beacon is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
