Job description

Title:
Systems Engineer
KBR is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong software engineering background to support a U.S. Air Force customer across a range of complex program needs. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of systems engineering discipline and software subject matter expertise, with experience supporting government program offices and interacting with industry development teams. This role requires the ability to bridge operational needs, system-level requirements, and software-intensive solutions in a collaborative acquisition environment.
The Systems Engineer will work closely with program leadership, engineers, and contracting officers to provide systems and software-focused engineering support to the government customer throughout the acquisition lifecycle. The successful candidate will lead and/or support the development, analysis, and management of system and software requirements and associated technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and support the development, management, and traceability of functional and non-functional system and software requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
• Apply software engineering expertise to assess architecture, design approaches, data flows, interfaces, and integration risks.
• Develop, review, and maintain technical and acquisition documentation, including System Requirements Documents (SRDs), Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), Statements of Work (SOWs), architecture documentation, test cases, and design review materials.
• Support and participate in regular team meetings, technical evaluations, design reviews, and the review of Contract Data
Required:
• Minimum of 10 years of total experience with some combination of systems and software
engineering
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
• Current Secret clearance and SCI eligibility required (SAR/SAP experience desired)
• Experience developing, analyzing, and managing system and software requirements for complex,
software-intensive systems
• Ability to evaluate software architectures, interfaces, integration approaches, and technical risks
• Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical issues, risks, and
recommendations to stakeholders
• Must reside in or be willing to work in the Wright-Patterson AFB, OH area
Desired:
• Experience with aircraft simulators, training systems, or other real-time or mission-critical software systems
• Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, or iterative development models within DoD acquisition programs
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, software assurance, or secure systems design principles
• Experience supporting acquisition lifecycle activities, including technical reviews and evaluation of contractor deliverables (CDRLs)
• Knowledge of digital engineering practices, MBSE, or system architecture frameworks
