Systems Engineer

Location: Columbus, OH / Hybrid

Position Overview

As a Systems Engineer, you'll be a trusted resource for our technical team and clients. You'll resolve complex issues and ensure our clients' technology runs smoothly and securely. You'll work independently and collaboratively, always prioritizing clear communication, accountability, and a cybersecurity-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Server & Cloud Infrastructure:

  • Implement and configure server virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMWare) and cloud environments (Microsoft Azure).
  • Execute server deployments, system migrations, IAM configurations, and Microsoft 365 cloud engagements; from planning through completion with precision and accountability.
  • Plan and manage user data migrations and access provisioning, ensuring seamless transitions, minimal disruption, and security compliance.
  • Deploy and configure backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect servers, workstations, and public cloud data.

Network Infrastructure:

  • Plan and implement network infrastructure builds, migrations, and changes for clients, ensuring solutions are robust, secure, and tailored to business needs.
  • Configure and deploy advanced hardware including firewalls, switches, and access points.

IT Security:

  • Configure and maintain security controls within Microsoft 365 and cloud environments, including conditional access, multi-factor authentication, and data loss prevention policies.
  • Apply security best practices across endpoints, servers, and network infrastructure, balancing protection with system performance and usability.
  • Support client compliance efforts by identifying vulnerabilities and recommending remediation aligned with industry security standards.

Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Work closely with clients and team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation and audit customer networks to support ongoing improvement.
  • Audit customer environments and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and security.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and resolve sophisticated network and server issues, always applying a cybersecurity-first approach.
  • Support desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and servers (Windows and MacOS) with hands-on expertise.

Client-Facing Support:

  • Deliver direct technical support to clients, ensuring their technology operates smoothly and securely.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in technical support, network and server management, and systems engineering, with increasing technical responsibility.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally with clients.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Windows 10/11, Windows Server OS, Active Directory, SQL
    • Hyper-V, VMWare
    • Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 Administration, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online
    • Troubleshooting desktop/laptop and advanced network issues.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations as needed.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an MSP or multi-client environment
  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or related field
  • CompTIA, CCNA, Security+ certifications
  • Microsoft 365 Platform Certifications

Physical Demands
