Job Title: System Development Engineer

Job Description

The System Development Engineer plays a key role in system-level design cutting-edge automotive technologies. This position focuses on defining and managing system requirements and architecture, overseeing system test activities, and ensuring robust, safety-compliant solutions for high-tech sensors and camera-based analytics in modern vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop clear, comprehensive system requirements and interface requirements.
  • Maintain full traceability of system requirements to customer requirements to ensure alignment with stakeholder needs.
  • Ensure traceability of system requirements to detailed subsystem and component-level requirements.
  • Develop and document system architecture that meets functional, performance, and safety objectives.
  • Maintain traceability of system architecture to system requirements to support verification and validation activities.
  • Ensure traceability of system requirements through to system test, including test planning and coverage analysis.
  • Perform and support System FMEA activities to identify, assess, and mitigate potential system-level risks.
  • Apply and follow established system engineering processes throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Ensure system development and validation activities comply with ASIL requirements under ISO 26262.
  • Ensure system development and validation activities align with ASPICE process standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including firmware, electrical, and software engineering, to integrate sensor and camera-based analytics solutions.
  • Contribute to model-based systems design activities using tools such as SysML and system modeling environments.
  • Support requirements capture, management, and change control using tools like DOORS.
  • Participate in reviews of system models, requirements, and architecture to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Provide technical input for system test strategies and support resolution of issues identified during validation.

Essential Skills

  • Approximately 5 years of experience in systems engineering or systems design roles.
  • Strong experience using DOORS or similar requirements capture and management tools.
  • Background in automotive systems engineering is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in automotive environments.
  • Experience working with firmware and electrical systems in a multidisciplinary engineering context.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA and System FMEA practices and their application to complex systems.
  • Understanding of ISO 26262 requirements for functional safety in automotive systems.
  • Familiarity with ASPICE process standards for automotive software and systems development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • Solid foundation in systems engineering principles, including requirements management, architecture, and validation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with high-tech sensors and camera-based systems, particularly in automotive applications.
  • Experience with model-based systems design using SysML or similar system modeling methodologies.
  • Exposure to software-intensive and sensor-based camera analytics solutions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
