Job description

TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a well-established organization to identify an IT Systems Developer. This role will support and enhance critical enterprise applications while working closely with business and technical teams to maintain system performance, resolve production issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Translate business requirements and technical specifications into effective software solutions.

  • Develop, maintain, enhance, and test applications using COBOL, Java, CL/CLP, and SQL.

  • Support mission-critical production systems and troubleshoot application issues.

  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve technical problems across enterprise applications and databases.

  • Collaborate with business users and technical teams to resolve system and application issues.

  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.

  • Support change management and release processes.

  • Utilize Jira and related tools to manage development activities and support tickets.

  • Develop and support Power BI reports and data integration solutions.

  • Work with DB2 databases to support reporting, analysis, and application functionality.

  • Monitor and support iSeries server operations, including job scheduling, printers, and subsystem management.

  • Maintain technical documentation for applications, processes, and system enhancements.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

  • 5+ years of COBOL development and support experience.

  • Strong experience in an AS400 (IBM iSeries) environment.

  • Experience with COBOL, Java, CL/CLP, and SQL development.

  • Strong understanding of COBOL architecture and legacy application support.

  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting production applications.

  • Working knowledge of DB2 databases, reporting, and data analysis.

  • Experience with Jira or similar ticketing and project management tools.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Power BI reporting solutions.

  • Insurance industry experience.

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices.

  • Experience with iSeries Query and IBM i administration.

  • .NET development experience.
