Packaging Supervisor

Description:

The Packaging Supervisor works closely with the Plant Operations Manager and is responsible for ensuring all seed packages (bags or bulk units) are labeled accurately and legibly according to customer specifications. This role oversees packaging operations, supports quality and safety initiatives, and ensures efficient workflow within the department.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervising and training employees involved in packaging processes

Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment, including implementation of company safety programs

Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System

Using computer systems to record and retrieve necessary information

Ensuring product integrity through proper cleaning between bagging runs

Overseeing accurate packaging, inventory control, and timely paperwork submission

Performing preseason maintenance on bagging, conveyor, and palletizing equipment

Ensuring pallets are properly stacked, wrapped, and prepared for warehouse storage

Monitoring and maximizing daily bagging output

Maintaining adequate supply inventory to prevent downtime

Keeping the work area clean, organized, and efficient

Capacity to lift and stack materials up to 68 lbs. for extended periods

Capability to lift and stack materials at or above shoulder height for extended periods

Endurance to stand for extended periods while filling and closing packaged product

Comfortable safely climbing stairs and/or ladders to monitor and adjust equipment

Successful completion of forklift training and certification

Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment

Strong attention to detail to ensure labeling accuracy and product quality

Proficiency with basic computer functions for data entry and information retrieval
