Job description

Waldorf University is seeking a full-time Lead Evening Cook to start the end of July 2026. This position reports directly to Directors of Dining Services. This position follows the academic calendar (August–May). Summer catering opportunities are available based on operational needs.
Typical schedule is 40 hours per week over five days, with occasional six-day weeks during peak periods.
Specific Responsibilities amp; Skills include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead evening cook will be responsible for general kitchen direction and execution of evening meal and next meal/day or catering prep including supervision of student production cooking staff.
  • Provide clear communication and instruction to cooking staff. Must be self-motivated and focused. Able to work effectively with other dining and service staff for department needs. Must be dependable. Ability to provide proper on-going communication on inventory, ingredient or equipment needs, and prep areas to other cooking staff to maintain production and flow.
  • Skill set includes menu preparation, ability to read and follow recipes, execute meal service, and manage production output and controls. Able to read, understand, follow, and set a good example of food and equipment safety, in addition to cleanliness protocols.
