Job description

Be a part of a revolutionary change!
At Philip Morris International (PMI), we've chosen to do something incredible. We're totally transforming our business and building our future on one clear purpose - to deliver a smoke-free future.
With huge change, comes huge opportunity. So, if you join us, you'll enjoy the freedom to dream up and deliver better, brighter solutions and the space to move your career forward in endlessly different directions. Our success depends on people who are committed to our purpose and have an appetite for progress.
Our beautiful HQ in Stamford, CT is just steps away from the Stamford Metro-North Train Station and easily accessible from NYC.
The Commercial Innovation Manager will play a critical role in shaping and advancing the
U.S. innovation agenda across Philip Morris International's smoke-free portfolio, including
Oral Nicotine (ZYN) and Inhalable (IQOS). Reporting into the Director of U.S. Commercial
Innovation, this role will sit at the nexus of consumer insight, product strategy, financial
rigor, and technological advancement-helping to build and activate innovation pipelines
and portfolio structures that drive sustainable long-term growth.
This is a highly visible, high-impact role for a strategic thinker and builder-someone who
can translate deep consumer understanding into compelling innovation strategies, develop
robust business cases, and collaborate effectively within a fast-paced, complex, global
organization.
Your 'day to day':
    • Partner closely with the Director of U.S. Commercial Innovation to develop, refine, and activate strategic innovation pipelines and portfolio frameworks aligned with U.S. commercial priorities.
    • Identify and size growth opportunities that go beyond near-term horizons, balancing breakthrough, platform, and incremental innovation.
    • Support category-level innovation roadmaps across Oral Nicotine and Inhalable smoke-free products. Deeply connect consumer insights, behavior trends, and unmet needs into actionable product and proposition development plans.
    • Translate qualitative and quantitative research into clear innovation hypotheses and opportunity spaces.
    • Champion the voice of the consumer throughout the innovation lifecycle. Support building comprehensive financial business cases for innovation initiatives, including revenue potential, margin impact, investment requirements, and risk assessment.
    • Partner with Finance to ensure assumptions are sound, scenarios are well-defined, and trade-offs are clearly articulated.
    • Track performance versus plan and support data-driven decision-making. Collaborate closely with R&D, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Global functions to advance innovation initiatives from concept through commercialization.
    • Contribute to governance forums by developing clear, concise, and compelling business narratives that enable executive decision-making.
    • Work in close partnership with the Commercial Innovation PMO to ensure strong alignment on priorities, timelines, and delivery expectations. Explore and help evaluate technological advancements, platforms, and capabilities that could unlock future growth opportunities.
    • Partner with internal and external experts to assess feasibility, scalability, and strategic fit.

Who we're looking for:
    • Strong strategic and analytical capability-able to synthesize complexity and draw clear, actionable insights.
    • A visionary mindset with the ability to see beyond "today and now" and articulate where growth can come from next.
    • Proven experience building FMCG innovation strategies, portfolios, or business cases rooted in deep consumer centricity.
    • Comfort operating in a highly-matrixed, international organization with multiple stakeholders, different time zones, and competing priorities.
    • Ability to move quickly, manage ambiguity, and maintain a strong sense of accountability in a fast-paced setting.
    • Exceptional communication skills-particularly in telling concise, persuasive business stories supported by data.
    • Experience in innovation, strategy, commercial, or product roles within FMCG, consumer healthcare, or other regulated consumer categories.
    • Exposure to early-stage innovation, pipeline management, or new product development processes.
    • Strong financial acumen and experience partnering with Finance
    • Fully authorized to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship

What we offer
    • We offer a competitive base salary, annual bonus (applicable based on level of position), great medical, dental and vision coverage, 401k with a generous company match, incredible wellness benefits, commuter benefits, pet insurance, generous PTO, and much more!
    • We have implemented Smart Work, a hybrid model of working that promotes flexibility in the workplace.
    • Seize the freedom to define your future and ours. We'll empower you to take risks, experiment and explore.
    • Be part of an inclusive, diverse culture where everyone's contribution is respected; Collaborate with some of the world's best people and feel like you belong.
    • Pursue your ambitions and develop your skills with a global business - our staggering size and scale provides endless opportunities to progress.
    • Take pride in delivering our promise to society: To improve the lives of millions of smokers.
