Overview

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Strategy, Innovation and System Integration serves as a senior executive leader responsible for the strategic oversight, enterprise planning, innovation, and system integration efforts across Appalachian Regional Healthcare. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, enterprise strategic planning, corporate development, strategic partnerships, enterprise innovation, venture initiatives, the Enterprise Project Management Office (ePMO), enterprise integration, and other strategic functions as assigned.This role partners with executive leadership, operational leaders, Board leadership, external stakeholders, and other stratgic partners as defined to identify and advance transformative opportunities, evaluate emerging technologies and care models, foster strategic partnerships, and ensure the successful execution and ongoing monitoring of enterprise initiatives that strengthen organizational performance, improve outcomes, and support ARH's long-term mission, sustainability, and strategic priorities.Consistent with the ARH Executive Level 2 (E2) framework, this position carries enterprise-wide organizational impact and is accountable for developing, influencing, and executing long-term strategic initiatives that drive innovation, organizational transformation, and sustainable growth across Appalachian Regional Healthcare.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities Advance enterprise strategy, innovation, and system integration efforts. Facilitate enterprise long-range and annual strategic planning processes Align strategic priorities with organizational goals, performance metrics, financial and capital planning efforts. Partner with leadership to monitor performance of strategic and enterprise transformation initiatives. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Corporate Development & Growth Identify and evaluate strategic growth, partnership, affiliation, and M&A opportunities. Support business development, market positioning, and strategic partnership activities. Assist with structuring and negotiation of partnership and growth initiatives.

Innovation & Venture Leadership Serve as Co-Managing Partner of ARH Impact Ventures. Develop enterprise innovation strategy and ventures portfolio in alignment with ARH Mission, Vision and strategic direction . Evaluate investment opportunities and engage innovation ecosystem partners. Support innovation governance through collaboration with ARH Ventures, Board committees, executive leadership, legal, and compliance.

Enterprise Project Management Office (ePMO) Provide leadership and oversight of the Enterprise Project Management Office. Ensure strategic initiatives are prioritized, governed, and effectively executed. Maintain accountability and reporting around project performance, timelines, and resource utilization.

Board & Executive Engagement Advise the CFO and executive leadership on strategy, innovation, growth, and investment opportunities and performance. Prepare and present strategic recommendations and updates to the Board and leadership teams as needed. Serve as a primary resource on enterprise strategy, innovation, and transformation initiatives.

ARH Standards Meet established performance, financial, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement expectations. Comply with all ARH policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrate ARH's culture, values, and behavioral standards in all interactions. Promote positive relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and community partners.

Qualifications

Education Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Strategic Management, or a related field required.

Minimum Work Experience Minimum ten (10) years of progressive executive leadership experience in healthcare strategy, corporate development, innovation, enterprise transformation, or related executive leadership roles, preferably within a complex, multi-site integrated health system. Demonstrated experience leading enterprise strategic planning, organizational transformation, business development, or system-wide performance improvement initiatives. Experience partnering with executive leadership and governing boards on strategic planning, organizational growth, and major enterprise initiatives. Experience overseeing complex cross-functional projects, enterprise governance structures, or project management functions. Experience evaluating strategic partnerships, affiliations, mergers and acquisitions, venture initiatives, or emerging healthcare technologies preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Executive-level strategic planning, organizational leadership, and systems thinking. Strong financial, business, and operational acumen with the ability to evaluate strategic investments and organizational performance. Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise transformation and organizational change initiatives. Knowledge of healthcare industry trends, market dynamics, innovation methodologies, and emerging care delivery models. Ability to build collaborative relationships with executive leadership, physicians, board members, and external partners. Exceptional communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and executive influence skills. Experience utilizing data analytics and performance metrics to guide executive decision-making. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with business intelligence, data visualization, and project management platforms preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent executive project leadership experience preferred.
