Development & Strategic Partnerships Manager

NOTE: This position is fully remote. We will consider all applicants based in the US.
A2 brings together, supports, and organizes alongside grassroots groups on the frontlines of climate change, building collective power to fight for environmental protection and justice across the United States and its territories. We are the nation's largest coalition of frontline communities, representing more than 430 member groups.
We seek a full-time (40 hours/week) Development and Strategic Partnerships Manager. You will play a key role in identifying and securing funding to sustain and grow our work with impacted communities, cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships, and assist the Executive Director as needed.
The position is primarily remote with a salary range of 70K to 80K, plus benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Development & Management
  • Manage all aspects of the grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, reporting, performance tracking, and compliance with deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate grant records, manage a calendar of deadlines and reporting requirements, and ensure timely submissions.
  • Write and edit grant proposals and reports, soliciting input from staff.
  • Track progress toward funding goals, sharing updates with the Executive Director and recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with program officers, foundations, government agencies, and individual funders to strengthen partnerships and identify opportunities.
  • Represent A2 at funder convenings, webinars, and meetings.
  • Support staff and community leaders in preparation for funder meetings and reporting.
  • Maintain A2's profiles on platforms such as Guidestar, Charity Navigator, and Great Nonprofits.

Strategic Partnerships
  • Proactively identify, cultivate, and engage potential partners - including nonprofits, academic institutions, elected representatives, and government agencies - to advance A2's mission, expand support for member groups, and elevate A2's national visibility.
  • Manage and strengthen existing strategic partnerships through regular communication, joint planning, and shared initiatives that deepen A2's work.
  • Represent A2 in partnership meetings, networks, and coalitions to advance shared goals and amplify member voices.
  • Track partnership outcomes and support reporting and storytelling that demonstrate impact and progress.

Individual Giving
  • Design and implement a comprehensive individual giving strategy.
  • Manage and steward relationships with individual donors, ensuring consistent communication and recognition.

Administrative & Communication Support
  • Assist Executive Director as needed
  • Develop fundraising collateral such as infographics, one-pagers, and presentations.
  • Track and report on funder engagement, funder meetings, grants, and development activities for the Executive Director and Board.
  • Provide funders with monthly snapshots of key milestones related to their grants.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years' experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or grant management with a proven track record of securing grants and individual gifts.
  • Strong grant writing and editing skills, with experience preparing successful proposals and reports.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities, capture data, and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with a natural warmth and authenticity that fosters trust and genuine connection with funders, donors, partners, and A2 members.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and CRM systems.
  • Familiarity with, or eagerness to learn about, climate and environmental issues and the challenges facing A2 member communities.
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and collaborative spirit, with an ability to take initiative, follow through on commitments, and contribute positively to a team environment.
  • Passion for environmental and social justice, systems change, and community power building.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to meet funders or attend convenings.
