HVAC Field Startup Technician

Location: Raleigh, NC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $26.00 - $40.00 per hour (based on experience). This position qualifies for a $3,000 sign-on bonus!

Reports to: Startup Manager

What You'll Do (Essential Duties)

As an HVAC Startup Technician, you will:

  • Perform pre-functional inspections, checklists, and startup of commercial HVAC systems.
  • Install unit accessories and ensure proper system operation according to manufacturer requirements.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot startup-related issues to ensure seamless system performance.
  • Interpret drawings, submittals, and installation/operation manuals for accurate startup execution.
  • Document all work with detailed reports for each system and unit.
  • Assist installation teams by mounting and connecting field-installed devices as needed.
  • Collaborate with commissioning agents and project teams to complete required documentation.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)
  • Experience: 5+ years in HVAC startup, service, or commissioning roles.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with DX systems, water-cooled chillers, heat pumps, VAV boxes, and other commercial HVAC equipment.
    • Strong understanding of HVAC system construction, troubleshooting, and performance testing.
    • Hands-on controls experience (wiring concepts, programming, or software) preferred but not required.
    • Familiarity with common installation codes and best practices.
  • Technology & Software:
    • Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and digital documentation tools.
    • Experience with CX Alloy or similar commissioning software is a plus.
  • Licenses & Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license (must pass background and drug screening).
    • Ability to handle multiple projects and effectively manage time in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed. (NC, SC, VA region)
