The role will be based in New York with the expectation of a hybrid work model.
The Vice President or Senior Vice President, Client Relations Manager, will be responsible for managing and expanding existing strategic intermediary and institutional relationships with a focus for Americas Retail and Intermediary Business, with a focus on sub-advisory 40-Act relationships, wealth platforms and asset aggregation partners.
This role blends strategic relationship management, advance client servicing, distribution support and sales influence, serving as a senior point of contact for all clients across the channel. The individual will contribute to retention, asset growth and platform penetration efforts across the channel.
This role will serve as an ambassador and client advocate within the firm, ensuring seamless representation of our organization to clients. This role will oversee the full client life cycle, acting as the lead liaison between clients and internal investment, distribution, product and operational teams. The role will touch all asset classes and requires an advanced understanding of the asset management business given the added complexities of supporting intermediary clients. The Client Relations Manager will possess advanced knowledge across asset classes (e.g., public fixed income, equities, private markets, multi-asset) and across investment vehicles (e.g., mutual funds, ETFs, closed-end funds, CITs, SMAs).
The Client Relations Manager reports directly to the Head of Americas Client Relations with a functional reporting line into the Head of Intermediary & Retail, Americas. A dedicated Associate will report into the Client Relations Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic Relationship Management
Serve as the senior relationship manager for key sub-advisory, intermediary and institutional distribution partners
Own day-to-day and strategic relationships with assigned clients
oWirehouse platforms
oLarge RIAs and RIA aggregators
oInsurance and retirement platforms
Lead & coordinate quarterly and annual business reviews
Develop and execute strategic account plans in partnership with sales leadership and consultant teams
Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with institutional intermediary clients, including a significant focus on the traditional sub-advisory channel.
Act as the primary coverage person for assigned intermediary relationships
Build long-term strategic partnerships to increase assets and retention
In collaboration with sales, create and execute client-specific relationship plans to drive net new flows and revenue growth
Client Service, Communication, Reporting
Deliver high-touch service across all aspects of the client lifecycle (onboarding, ongoing support, issue resolution)
Lead/assist with meeting preparation, execution, and follow-ups
Ensure consistent and proactive communication with clients regarding market developments and firm updates
Lead/oversee deliverables including reporting, performance updates, investment commentaries, presentations, compliance certifications, RFPs, due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) and platform/account-related requests
Internal collaboration
Close coordination and collaboration with the senior operations, compliance, legal, product and investment teams
Partner with sales and product specialists
Market Intelligence & Business Tracking
Maintain accurate reporting of pipeline, flows, and engagement activity via CRM tools (SalesForce)
Ensure CRM is kept up to date across organizations, contacts, Business at Risk, new opportunities, and account change management
Monitor industry trends across institutional and intermediary distribution channels.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or CFA strongly preferred.
FINRA licenses (Series 7 and 63/65 or 66)
8-12 years of experience in relationship management or client service management within the asset management industry
Proven success managing large, complex institutional relationships and driving asset growth
Experience working with fund and distribution platforms, manager research, gatekeepers, and consultants
Skills & Competencies:
Deep understanding of institutional investment products and solutions across asset classes
Strong knowledge of intermediary platforms (wirehouses, retirement platforms, RIAs, bank trusts, OCIOs)
Strong understanding of the US 40-Act business, including open-end, close-end, and ETF fund structures.
Ability to manage complex sales cycles and navigate multi-stakeholder environments
Excellent communication, collaboration, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Team player with flexibility to adapt
Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen
Strong proficiency in MS Office software, especially PowerPoint and Excel, with experience producing high quality presentations and reports. Knowledge of Salesforce a plus.
Location/Travel:
Location: New York, NY (3 days / week in-office)
Periodic presence in satellite Philadelphia & NJ Offices
10 - 15% Travel for client meetings, conferences and/or team support
