Job Description:

Senior Leader - Electrical & Software Engineering

The Senior Leader - Electrical & Software Engineering is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the activities of the Electrical and Software Engineering teams supporting BWCS's Vision product lines. This role partners closely with engineering leadership to ensure resources are effectively allocated to support BWCS's strategic product development initiatives.

The position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with leaders across the organization to drive alignment with overall business strategy and ensure successful execution.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard engineering staff.
  • Train and develop staff.
  • Manage team workload, priorities, and engineering backlogs.
  • Provide timely, constructive performance evaluations.
  • Administer employee discipline and terminations in accordance with company policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Management and Project Management to prioritize work and allocate engineering resources to meet project timelines.
  • Monitor engineering team capacity and optimize time allocation, with a focus on advancing New Product Development initiatives.
  • Support Project Managers by contributing to cost analysis, resource planning, and development schedules.
  • Ensure alignment of team activities to meet or exceed monthly financial and operational commitments.
  • Oversee project execution to ensure delivery within budget and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Lead Design Reviews.
  • Define and implement the strategic direction of engineering initiatives in alignment with business objectives.
  • Assess team strengths and development areas; establish and execute improvement plans as needed.
  • Mentor and develop early-career engineers while fostering a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies, tools, and systems to improve efficiency and decision-making.
  • Support engagement with design partners and vendors critical to product roadmap execution, technology development, obsolescence management, and order fulfillment.
  • Establish and maintain engineering policies, standards, security practices, and development processes to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams-including manufacturing, supply chain, and field service-to support overall organizational success and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Experience with PCB design, layout, and test; Altium preferred
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Continuous learning mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar tools.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with modern leadership and team development practices.
  • Proven ability to build and foster team-oriented environments.
  • Knowledge of color theory is a plus.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, domestically and internationally.
