The Sales Engineering Manager is responsible for providing leadership for all activities of the Sales Engineering and Prototype team, differentiating KMC through outstanding technical sales support for customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role requires up to 25% travel to customer sites to provide Sales Engineering services
  • Support Sales Engineering Events at customer sites and at KMC facilities
  • Ensure ongoing development and application of eight core Sales Engineering services: Customer Education, Line Walks, Vale Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE), “Ballpark” Estimates, Part Design Collaboration, Part Analysis & Simulation, Prototyping, and 3D Printing
  • Develop and execute plans with Business Development to meet customer collaboration goals
  • Develop physical and digital Sales Engineering tool kits to support core Sales Engineering services
  • Create training plans to develop staff as subject matter experts on KMC processes and technology
  • Drive professional development of all Sales Engineering and Prototype staff
  • Proactively seek out feedback to ensure alignment of work product with Operations group
  • Ensure transfer of collaboration and prototype details to the Production team at new part launch
  • Develop specific strategies to grow prototype sales and increase prototype-to-production conversion
  • Responsible for use of Sales Engineering and Prototype dashboards to drive performance improvement
  • Accountable to management team for performance of the Sales Engineering and Prototype team key metrics
  • Provide organized feedback to KMC leadership on market, customer, and competitor observations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, Tool & Die certification or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years experience in stamping and fabrication
  • Strong organization and leadership skills
  • Computer proficiency and strong MS Office software skills, AI integration preferred
  • Ability to analyze blueprints, GD&T proficiency required
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
  • Working knowledge of relevant material types and associated properties
  • Knowledge of post manufacturing operations (plating, painting, heat treat, etc.)
  • Knowledge of product cost structure
  • Prior experience with cost estimating and quoting software
