JOHNSTON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Administrative Assistant
LOCATION: School Improvement Services
SALARY: Grade 66
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent
Area Assistant Superintendents (High, Middle, Elementary)
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
  • High school diploma or GED from regionally or nationally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience.
  • Associate's degree in related area preferred.
  • Experience in office management preferred.
  • Proficient in technology skills using Google and Microsoft Office, specifically spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide administrative support for Associate Superintendent and Area Assistant Superintendents.
  • Work closely with central staff, principals, and schools as needed.
  • Communicate effectively on the telephone and in person with senior staff.
  • Process leave, travel reimbursement requests, and mileage requests for assigned staff.
  • Gather and process agenda items, policies, and other information for weekly Cabinet meetings, monthly Board meetings, Principal and Assistant Principal monthly onboarding meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Gather and manage assigned staff's P-card transactions.
  • Enter purchase orders, budget transfer requests, process requisitions, and submit invoices utilizing Finance software.
  • Assist with the management and monitoring of budgets for applicable departments.
  • Send policy updates to the North Carolina School Boards Association.
  • Maintain an up-to-date online policy manual on the district website.
  • Perform other duties and accept responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to use a variety of automated office equipment such as computers, copiers, etc.
