Job Title: Shipping LeadJob Description

This role leads daily shipping operations for a plumbing supply distribution warehouse, ensuring orders ship accurately, on time, and in coordination with production, sales, and warehouse teams. The Shipping Lead assigns work, oversees shipping and warehouse staff, maintains an organized shipping area, and manages shipping documentation and system entries.

Responsibilities
  • Assign daily orders to shipping personnel and clearly communicate priorities for the day.
  • Coordinate shipping dates and schedules with production and sales service teams to meet customer and operational timelines.
  • Oversee and direct the activities of shipping and warehouse personnel to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Monitor the organization, cleanliness, and appearance of the shipping area and ensure shipments are processed in an orderly and accurate manner.
  • Identify and communicate issues such as heavy workload, handling equipment needs, or employee concerns to the warehouse manager to maintain a steady workflow.
  • Assist in training warehouse personnel on shipping procedures, equipment use, and safety practices.
  • Process all Bills of Lading (BOLs) accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Print and apply shipping labels correctly to all outgoing shipments.
  • Enter shipping and inventory information into the computer system and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with unloading incoming trucks as needed.
  • Support putaway and stocking of incoming inventory to designated locations in the warehouse.
  • Lift, move, and stack boxes and products, including bending and stacking boxes on pallets as required.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts in a safe and efficient manner, where authorized and trained.
Essential Skills
  • Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or direct shipping and warehouse personnel.
  • Ability to assign work, set priorities, and coordinate with other departments such as production and sales service.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain an orderly, clean, and efficient shipping area.
  • Proficiency with computer systems to enter shipping and inventory information and print labels.
  • Experience processing Bills of Lading (BOLs) and related shipping documentation.
  • Ability to operate pallet jacks safely.
  • Ability to operate forklifts safely, if certified and authorized by the employer.
  • Capability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time during the workday.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and stack boxes on pallets safely and repeatedly.

Pay and Benefits
