Job description

The Shipping/Receiving Warehouse Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and optimizing all inbound and outbound logistics operations for a 24/7 plastic bag manufacturing facility. This position ensures the efficient movement of raw materials and finished goods while maintaining high levels of customer service, inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, and cost control. The Logistics Manager oversees warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, transportation management, inventory control, and logistics personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse, shipping, receiving, and logistics personnel to ensure 24/7 staffing coverage.
  • Manage inbound and outbound transportation activities, coordinating with suppliers, carriers, 3PL providers, and customers.
  • Negotiate transportation contracts, monitor carrier performance, and develop cost-effective freight strategies.
  • Direct warehouse operations including receiving, storage, cycle counts, order picking, shipping, and layout optimization.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP systems, analyze inventory levels, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Partner with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Planning to align material availability with customer demand.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT regulations, proper shipping documentation, and warehouse safety practices (e.g., safe forklift operation).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
  • Minimum 5 years of logistics, warehouse, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience in plastics, packaging, or high-volume manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
