Role Overview:  

The Warehouse Manager / Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for managing the laydown yard and overseeing all incoming and outgoing materials for the project. This role ensures accurate receiving, documentation, storage, and distribution of materials to support construction operations. The position works closely with the Logistics Manager, field teams, and trade contractors to maintain efficient material flow, site organization, and inventory control.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the laydown yard, including organization, cleanliness, and safety compliance
  • Receive all incoming deliveries; inspect for accuracy, quantity, and visible damage
  • Log, track, and maintain records of all materials entering and leaving the site
  • Coordinate material distribution to designated work areas, contractors, or storage locations
  • Direct delivery drivers and vendors to appropriate drop-off points and staging areas
  • Maintain inventory control systems, including material tagging, labeling, and status tracking
  • Work closely with the Logistics Manager to align on material flow, site access, and delivery scheduling
  • Coordinate with procurement, project management, and field teams on material needs and priorities
  • Identify and report shortages, discrepancies, or damaged materials
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and protection of materials to prevent loss or damage
  • Support audits, reporting, and documentation requirements for project controls and QA/QC
  • Enforce site safety standards and ensure proper equipment use within the laydown yard

Job Requirements:


5+ years of experience in warehouse management, shipping/receiving, or construction material handling (mission-critical or large-scale projects preferred)

  • Strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, and site logistics operations
  • Experience managing laydown yards or large material staging areas
  • Proficiency in inventory tracking systems, spreadsheets, and material logging processes
  • Ability to read and interpret packing slips, purchase orders, and delivery documentation
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and coordination skills with field teams, vendors, and management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume construction environment
  • Familiarity with safety standards and material handling best practices
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain) preferred
