Job description

Principal Manufacturing is seeking a Shipping Coordinator to join our team in Broadview, IL. As a leader in fineblanking, conventional stamping and plastic injection molding, Principal Manufacturing sets itself above the competition.

As a Shipping Coordinator, you will be responsible for facilitating the shipping of products from one destination to another. Arrange transportation, schedule, and orchestrate deliveries to meet customer demand with little to no delay. Coordinates with Other Department for shipping schedules

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule trucks for daily pick-ups.
  • Update daily truck schedule for pick-ups.
  • Get quotes for shipping needs.
  • Communicate with production and customer relations.
  • Facilitate the shipping of products from one destination to another.
  • Arrange transportation and orchestrate deliveries to meet customer demand with little to no delay.
  • Prepare daily expedited reports.
  • Manage documents for shipment, BOL, Shippers and Certs.
  • Manages activities throughout the order fulfilment and transportation cycle to make sure established deadlines are met.
  • Process shipment and create UPS, DHL and Fed Ex paperwork.
  • Continually reviews freight costs, transportation rates, and expedite cost. Keeping costs down where possible.
  • Communicate with accounting with daily freight and 3rd party paperwork
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • Resolve worker problems or collaborate with employees to assist in problem resolution with shipments or paperwork.
  • Manage and create documentation for international shipments.
  • Train team members

Required Skill/Knowledge:

  • High School diploma or related on-the-job experience
  • Shipping and transportation experience.
  • Forklift experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office i.e., of Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Knowledge of customer specifications.
  • Decision making ability.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Practical mindset
  • Ability to priorities.
  • Communication skills
