Job Title: 1st Shift Shipping Clerk / Warehouse Worker
Job Description

This role supports a busy distribution operation that manufactures automotive parts by performing a variety of shipping, receiving, and warehouse tasks on 1st shift. You will handle inventory, prepare and package orders for shipment, and move materials throughout the facility using stairs, RF scanners, and material-handling equipment. The position requires flexibility with early morning start times and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming materials, verify quantities, and restock inventory in designated warehouse locations.
  • Perform shipping and receiving functions, including preparing documentation and organizing outbound shipments.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks safely and efficiently using appropriate material-handling methods.
  • Break down boxes, package items securely for shipment, and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
  • Use rolling stairs, order pickers, and RF scanners to locate, pick, and fulfill customer orders for automotive parts.
  • Pick orders from various warehouse levels, including using rolling safety ladders ranging from approximately 5–7 steps and occasionally up to 15 steps.
  • Assist warehouse supervisors as needed with general warehouse operations and special projects.
  • Perform order picking, packing, and palletizing to prepare shipments according to customer and company requirements.
  • Maintain accurate warehouse inventory by scanning, counting, and organizing products and materials.
  • Operate pallet jacks and other non-powered material-handling equipment to move products throughout the facility.
  • Support dispatch and overstock processes by organizing and staging materials for outbound shipments.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to meet daily shipping and receiving targets.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of ladders, equipment, and personal protective practices.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized by disposing of packaging materials and breaking down boxes as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Proficiency with order picking and packing processes, including preparing items for shipment.
  • Ability to use RF scanners for inventory management and order fulfillment.
  • Experience with warehouse inventory control, including restocking and organizing materials.
  • Ability to safely load and unload trucks and handle materials using pallet jacks or similar equipment.
  • Comfort using rolling safety ladders (approximately 5–7 steps) and occasional use of taller ladders up to about 15 feet.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms throughout the shift.
  • Ability to occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or squat as required by warehouse tasks.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English to follow instructions, complete documentation, and use scanning systems.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and maintaining productivity and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in an automotive parts distribution or manufacturing environment is beneficial.
  • Previous use of RF scanners, order pickers, and warehouse inventory systems is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with shipping and receiving procedures and basic documentation is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn forklift operation, with training available upon becoming a direct hire.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and tasks in a busy warehouse setting.

Work Environment

The role is on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, with mandatory overtime of up to two hours daily and occasional Saturdays as business needs require. Start times are typically 5:30 AM or 6:30 AM, with end times around 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, and flexibility with these hours is essential. Work involves frequent use of rolling safety ladders and RF scanners, as well as continuous movement around the warehouse. The dress code requires plain shirts with no logos for beer or alcohol, jeans without holes, and closed-toed shoes to maintain a safe and professional environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brea, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
