Job description

Shipping Supervisor – Millwork

Location: Alpharetta, GA
Salary: $60,000–$65,000 annually
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Job Type: Full-time


Position Summary

A well-established millwork manufacturer is seeking an experienced Shipping Supervisor to lead daily shipping operations at its Alpharetta facility. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for coordinating employees, materials, documentation, and transportation to ensure finished millwork products are shipped safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Millwork knowledge and industry experience are required for this position. The ideal candidate understands how custom millwork products should be identified, handled, packaged, staged, loaded, and protected from damage during transportation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, schedule, and support shipping department employees.
  • Plan daily shipping activities and assign work based on production schedules and delivery priorities.
  • Coordinate the staging, packaging, inspection, and loading of millwork products.
  • Verify products against packing lists, bills of lading, work orders, and shipping documents.
  • Ensure shipments are complete, accurate, properly labeled, and protected from damage.
  • Coordinate with production, project management, warehouse personnel, drivers, and carriers.
  • Monitor shipment deadlines and quickly resolve shortages, damage, documentation errors, and scheduling conflicts.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records and inventory-related documentation.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety procedures and proper material-handling practices.
  • Promote an organized, efficient, and clean shipping and staging area.
  • Monitor team performance and address attendance, productivity, and quality concerns.
  • Assist with loading, material handling, and other shipping duties when needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve shipping accuracy, workflow, productivity, and damage prevention.


Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated millwork knowledge and industry experience are required.
  • Previous supervisory or team-lead experience in shipping, warehousing, manufacturing, or distribution.
  • Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, staging, packaging, and loading procedures.
  • Ability to read packing lists, bills of lading, work orders, labels, and related documentation.
  • Experience safely handling finished millwork, custom-fabricated products, or similar materials.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills and experience working with shipping or inventory systems.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Ability to work in an active manufacturing and warehouse environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift or material-handling equipment experience.
  • Experience coordinating freight carriers, delivery routes, or outbound logistics.
  • Familiarity with commercial architectural millwork, cabinetry, fixtures, casework, or custom fabrication.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform material-handling tasks.
  • Ability to safely lift and move materials consistent with company safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
