Role Description:

The Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager (SHE) will be responsible for supporting nationwide operations while being able to run SHE excellence virtually. The SHE Manager will partner with location leadership to foster a caring safety culture that values and respects the well-being of each team member in the fulfillment center. The SHE Manager will set a strategic direction that reinforces the importance of Safety and Health for ShipBob. This role manages the overall Safety and Health programs, including development and implementation of policies, practices, and training. The SHE Manager works with site management teams to integrate Safety and Health performance and compliance into facility operations. This role develops opportunities to provide strategic and competitive advantage through cross-functional interaction. In addition, this person will spearhead continuous improvement, safety policies, and procedures. They will run fulfilment center safety meetings and functional training while assuring comprehensive operational compliance. This role reports to the Senior Director, Global Safety & Compliance, who also serves as the backup for this role.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate across the company to develop, implement, and manage Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) programs, policies, and procedures that support the business while ensuring compliance with established company and government regulations/policies.
  • Develop and run continuous improvement initiatives that utilize a data and program-focused approach to injury prevention and solid SHE culture/best management practices.
  • Direct work cross-functionally as required to resolve work-related incidents, non-compliance, non-conformities, and corrective and preventive actions driving continual improvement within the site(s).
  • Develop and assist in rollout strategies for adequate, appropriate, and effective safety, health, and environmental, and regulatory training for associates.
  • Coordinate and track audits, assessments, and associated activities and corrective actions, to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Providing subject matter expertise to safety, health and environmental compliance, incident investigation, emergency preparedness and response, pollution prevention, product safety, and hazardous waste management and environmental compliance.
  • Develop hazardous materials strategy to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct or ensure that required periodic SHE/DOT inspections are carried out, monitored, acted upon, and documented.
  • Train and coach others as needed to conform with SHE/DOT deliverables (Audits, Follow Safety Rules, etc.)
  • Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Requires 50% travel.
  • 10 years of experience in managing safety related programs.
  • Bachelor's degree required in Safety Science, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Risk Management.
  • Certifications such as HACCP, PCQI, GFSI scheme audits are highly desirable.
  • Management of Dangerous goods compliance.
  • DOT compliance management.
  • Environmental compliance in stormwater, spill prevention, disposal of solid and hazardous waste.
  • Experience with development, management safety systems across multiple locations.
  • Solid overall computer skills required (Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Distribution Center or Manufacturing SHE experience with mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
  • Experience in a fast paced, dynamic organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site leader.
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
  • Established analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.

The full base pay range for this position in our compensation architecture is $94,193 - $156,988. In addition to base salary, this role includes the opportunity to be eligible for participation in the Company's discretionary bonus plan based on Company's plans and in accordance with Company's policies.
