Job Description: SETUP COORDINATOR

Dept: Production

Report To: Shift Leader

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The basic function of the Set-up Coordinator is to exercise leadership, manage production responsibilities in accordance with customer requirements and provide direction to setup staff meanwhile meeting safety requirements. The incumbent is required to train and attend to all duties and responsibilities and maintain standards in accordance with stated requirements and IATF16949 standards.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred: AS/BS in Business Management, Manufacturing Technology or

Plastics

Licensing/Registration/Certification

Required: Adkev, Inc. equipment and skills certifications as required (forklift,

pallet jack, automation, overhead crane)

Preferred: None

Experience:

Required: 1 year supervisory experience in production/manufacturing environment similar to Adkev, Inc., to include injection molding of plastics

1 year Production Technician experience

Preferred: 3 years supervisory experience in production/manufacturing environment to include injection molding of plastics

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Knowledge of areas of production to include injection molding, personnel, tooling, robotics/automation and molding presses
  • IATF16949 standards that apply to production, processes and reporting, to include development of and/or calculation of any applicable metrics or standards
  • Knowledge of all facets and job requirements of jobs reporting to this position
  • Ability to work closely with groups of people, including company employees at all levels, suppliers, competitors, subcontractors and other outside professionals with whom the company deals with on a regular basis
  • Ability to analyze, develop, present, and implement sound production business strategies and practices; prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to operate as a ?trusted agent? in which full confidentiality and strict ethical business standards are to be observed
  • Ability to work extended hours, odd hours, weekends, as required to cover for overtime and absence of other Set-Up Prep personnel
  • Ability to follow safe work practices, including lockout/tag out and safety harnesses

Physical

Body Position:

This position requires the ability to stand and walk for prolong periods of time (minimum 8 hrs); walking plant floor to perform responsibilities of the job; have the ability of eyesight and hearing (corrected) and full use of limbs. Radio communication essential requirement.

Body Movement: Requires stooping, squatting, lifting above shoulders, climbing stairs and ladders; ability to lift up to 70 pounds; be able to perform all aspects of the job without significant accommodation. Physical dexterity and ability to negotiate around an office area, warehouse, manufacturing, equipment and crowded and busy work area.

Mental

Mathematics: Requires excellent math skills and accuracy to include SPC

understanding, weights and measurements

Language: Requires the ability to read, write, and speak English. Must write legibly. Must be able to communicate with others verbally and by hand-held radio.

Human relation skills

Requires ability to communicate with and maintain positive interpersonal skills with all members of the organization.

Abstract and Interpretative skills

Requires ability to read and interpret statistical data and other abstract and analytical information associated with the position.

Working Conditions

Adkev, Inc. makes every effort to provide a pleasant environmentally controlled

working atmosphere. However, on occasion, the position may require visiting customers, vendors, or outside professionals for which the company has no control of their environment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Setup Coordinator directly reports to and is accountable to the Shift Leader. The Setup Coordinator will have secondary reporting relationship to the Plant Manager.

AUTHORITY

The Setup Coordinator has the authority to recommend hiring, terminating or changing compensation and or duties of the individuals in the positions reporting to the position, provided these actions fall within established company guidelines.

The Setup Coordinator has the authority to develop and with approval, implement

safety training and production policies and procedures, as required, as it relates to all functions and positions within Adkev, Inc.?s operational areas.

RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES

  • Lead, train and direct Setup Preps, Mold Setters, and Process Techs, both current and newly employed associates, in their job responsibilities and functions. Verify effectiveness of training and performance; provide recommendations for continuous improvement and consistency in satisfactory work performance
  • Maintain safety standards as well as teach and counsel setup personnel on OSHA and ANSI standards to include forklift and lockout/tag out. Present safety issues to Shift Leader. Responsible for evacuation drills and emergencies, power outage procedures, and work injuries which occur during assigned shift
  • Participate in Floor Review and 5 Why process; review root cause and corrective action with setup personnel
  • Supervise maintenance of all tooling and equipment, housekeeping on presses, proper storage, preservation and recovery of molds, to ensure a safe, functional and productive work environment
  • Coordinate machine changeovers as required by Master Scheduler and Shift Leader
  • Follow IATF16949 procedures and work instructions for setup and verify setups/changeovers are correct
  • Assure and maintain that production processes meet customer requirements producing a quality product delivered on time
  • Supervise and maintain process parameters per Setup Sheet throughout the production run
  • Direct ?sample runs? of new product as required by Engineer, via direction from Process Engineer. Assure completion of Setup Sheet
  • Work overtime and weekends, as required, with little or no notice to meet production requirements and/or in the absence of Setup Coordinators or Setup Techs. With Shift Leader, find and schedule coverage for absent Setup Technicians
  • Coordinate with Shift Leader for performance evaluations of Setup Preps, Mold Setters, and Process Tech positions in a timely fashion. Handle disciplinary concerns of these personnel in a timely fashion in conjunction with Shift Leader, Plant Manager and Human Resources
  • Participate in on site training and attend off-site job-related seminars and training, as required
  • Support and maintain 5S housekeeping standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by Shift Leader and Plant Manager
  • Work rotating schedule for Saturday preventative maintenance
  • Adhere to Adkev, Inc.?s policies, procedures and instructions
  • Adhere to Adkev, Inc.?s No Fault Attendance policy
