Job description


The Business Analyst performs critical research, analysis and reports to support the sales efforts of the Corporate Partnerships, Business Development, Bookings, Convention Management and Sales departments. Provides consistent recommendations and leadership on revenue, key performance indicators (KPI), and strategy. This position will maximize sustainable productivity of event business utilizing the Care First Arena, RFK, St. Elizabeth's Campuses, WEWCC and non Events DC venues to produce net revenue for Events DC and economic impact for Washington, DC.
The incumbent will report to the Senior Vice President of Business Operations and Strategic Growth and operate within a matrixed structure requiring active engagement with Sports and Entertainment Division, Corporate Partnerships and Convention Management leadership teams. They will ensure timely and thorough execution of Events DC sales goals and projects that support and enhance the current business operations and future growth of the organization.
Responsibilities
  • Align three organizational sales team structures and objectives, establishing metrics and strategy around revenue management and economic impact.
  • Develop strong relationships with industry peers and Events DC staff.
  • Create evaluation and analysis on revenue strategy specific to Events DC campuses to ensure space maximization and financial success of events.
  • Work in accordance with established booking criteria system and recommend potential improvements to processes.
  • Develop and distribute critical reports on revenue, economic impact and other key performance indicators for internal and external purposes.
  • Make sure revenue, P&L and economic impact values are assigned to each prospective, hosted and past Events DC event.
  • Provide recommendations on all pricing to ensure both financial sustainability and successful outcomes for Events DC sports and entertainment.
  • Maximize Events DC campus business models, revenue streams and impacts for booking venues in and around the Washington, DC region. Includes constant analysis of past financial performance and ensure primary financial goals are continually being met.
  • Monitor competitive venue pricing and understand impact of competitive pricing decisions on Events DC venue performance. On-going analysis of Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland venue competitive set (price position, seasonality, business mix) to determine strategic and tactical direction and adjustments.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for any and all venue analysis or inquiries from stakeholders.
  • Create a sense of purpose for sales teams to understand strategies, the sales process, and securing business to accomplish corporate defined goals.
  • Subject matter expert on items for industry analytics and reports and other forecasting data, Oracle, Momentus and other relevant sports, entertainment and venue reporting.
  • Utilize both syndicated and custom research tools to effectively position various Sports and Entertainment properties/activities and develop ROI analysis and standardized reports.
  • Explore and evaluate new metrics that will enhance the value of Events DC properties, services, relationships and resources to our partners and customers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (preferably Economics/Finance; Statistics; Business Management; Communications or Marketing
  • 5 + years of experience in a professional services industry or CPA
  • Proven background in statistical analysis
  • Must be well-versed in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) (formatting, charts, macros and pivot tables)
