Job description

About Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc.

At SBH, our purpose is to inspire a more colorful, confident, and welcoming world. We are the leader in professional hair color, selling and distributing professional beauty supplies across 11 countries through our Sally Beauty and Beauty Systems Group businesses. Sally Beauty offers products for hair color, hair care, nails, and skin care to retail customers looking for salon-quality products at a value price. Beauty Systems Group, branded as Cosmo Prof or Armstrong McCall stores, along with its direct sales consultants, sell professionally branded products intended for use and resale by salons to retail consumers.  This is a hybrid role reporting into the support center at Legacy West in Plano Texas.

Essential Function

The Manager Events & Partnerships owns and drives the company's public relations strategy with a focus on events, partnerships, and sponsorships. This role exercises independent judgment and strategic decision-making to bring PR initiatives to life - from consumer and press-facing events to external partnership activations - setting direction on priorities, creative approach, and resource allocation to ensure all efforts are on brand, on time, and on budget. This role requires strong business acumen, creative leadership, and a passion for the beauty industry.  This is a hybrid role reporting into the support center at Legacy West in Plano Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary strategic lead and decision-making authority in the relationship with the company's PR agency of record, directing priorities, budgets, timelines, and creative scope to align with business objectives.

  • Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of PR events (consumer and press-facing), partnerships, and sponsorships from concept through completion, independently making decisions on logistics, creative direction, vendor selection, on-site management, and post-event analysis.
  • Own the development and management of seasonal and campaign-specific PR activations, exercising strategic judgment to align activations with key product and brand launches, cultural moments, and business priorities.
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with external partners, Sally Beauty expert talent, vendors, and agencies; independently evaluate and determine partner fit, negotiate terms, and make decisions on partnership direction and priorities.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment with internal teams (marketing, creative, social, retail, merchandising), applying independent judgment to determine how events and partnerships should be integrated across channels with a data-led approach.
  • Analyze event and partnership performance metrics and independently develop data-driven strategic recommendations that shape future PR investment decisions and planning priorities.
  • Own the management of partnership and sponsorship agreements, timelines, and deliverables, exercising judgment on prioritization and escalation to ensure all contractual obligations and business commitments are met.
  • Independently manage and make spend decisions across budgets for events, partnerships, and campaign activations, including cost tracking, invoice processing, and expense reconciliation; accountable for ensuring all initiatives are delivered within approved parameters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field

  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing, PR, events execution, or a related field
  • Experience managing events or brand activations from planning through execution
  • Beauty and/or retail industry experience preferred
  • Familiarity with media outlets, content creators, celebrities and brands particularly in the beauty or lifestyle space
  • Hybrid work environment (3 days in office, Legacy West - Plano, TX)
  • Some travel required

Competencies

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with high attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through with a sense of urgency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative team player with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
  • Resourceful and adaptable when priorities shift
  • Professional representation of the brand in external-facing settings
  • Results-oriented with an interest in using data to improve outcomes
