Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Position Overview:
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer provides technical leadership for geotechnical engineering projects ranging from routine to complex, with responsibility for safety, quality, project execution, and client satisfaction. This role supports project delivery through design leadership, construction-phase support, mentoring staff, and contributing to business development efforts.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior-level technical leadership and engineering judgment for geotechnical projects, including conceptual design, investigative approaches, and engineering recommendations.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee subsurface investigations and engineering analyses involving foundations, earth retention systems, slope stability, settlement, pavements, and ground improvement.
  • Lead safety efforts by modeling safe work practices, promoting pre-task planning, and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Ensure consistent quality standards across project delivery and proposals through continuous quality monitoring, technical reviews, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Review and approve geotechnical reports, analyses, and recommendations, including projects requiring complex or innovative investigation techniques.
  • Coordinate closely with civil, structural, and construction teams to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project designs.
  • Provide construction-phase support, including field observations, troubleshooting, and resolution of geotechnical issues.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, supporting professional development and technical training initiatives.
  • Identify project-related risks and apply company risk management policies to protect project outcomes and business interests.
  • Support and contribute to marketing, proposal development, sales efforts, and client relationship management.
  • Serve as an Authorized Project Reviewer, providing independent technical and quality oversight as required.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including responsibility for complex or multidiscipline projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (GA registration preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience with geotechnical investigations, engineering analysis, report preparation, and construction support.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulations (ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, ASCE, OSHA).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, mentor staff, and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with acceptable driving record required.
