The Senior Epic Application Analyst (Cogito/Reporting) leads the planning, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Cogito reporting, analytics, and business intelligence solutions. This role partners with operational, clinical, financial, and technical stakeholders to deliver enterprise reporting capabilities that support data-driven decision-making, regulatory reporting, and strategic initiatives across Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin.

Purpose
The Senior Epic Application Analyst (Cogito/Reporting) leads the planning, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Cogito reporting and analytics solutions, including Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, Radar, SlicerDicer, Cogito SQL Reporting, and Cogito Cloud. This role collaborates with operational, clinical, financial, and technical stakeholders to deliver enterprise reporting solutions that support organizational strategy, regulatory compliance, workflow optimization, and data-informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
Leads Planning, Execution, and Delivery of Cogito Analytics, Extracts, and Reporting Projects
  • Define project scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables, and success criteria
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including clinical, operational, technical, and business stakeholders
  • Translate business and clinical requirements into actionable implementation plans
  • Monitor project progress, risks, issues, and dependencies while implementing mitigation strategies
  • Manage project resources, priorities, and vendor relationships as appropriate
  • Facilitate Agile and traditional project management activities supporting Cogito initiatives

Leads End-to-End Implementation and Enhancement of Epic Cogito Solutions
  • Lead implementation, build, configuration, testing, deployment, and optimization of Epic Cogito reporting and analytics solutions
  • Support Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, Radar, SlicerDicer, Cogito SQL Reporting, and Cogito Cloud
  • Align implementation activities with organizational reporting, operational, financial, and clinical requirements
  • Coordinate integrated testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), validation, and deployment activities
  • Ensure adherence to Epic standards, data governance policies, and healthcare compliance requirements
  • Support post-implementation optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Communicate project status, milestones, risks, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders
  • Support user adoption, training, and change management activities
  • Ensure delivered reporting and analytics solutions meet organizational quality standards

Customer and Vendor Liaison
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Information Technology, vendors, clinical departments, operational leaders, and customers
  • Provide ongoing operational support during implementations and production operations
  • Provide project management support and technical guidance as required
  • Build productive relationships with vendors and business stakeholders to support reporting initiatives

Ensures Data Governance and Security
  • Support enterprise data governance, security, and regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Implement data validation, anomaly detection, cleansing, and quality assurance processes
  • Collaborate with enterprise data governance teams to enforce organizational policies
  • Audit reporting data for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Support data stewardship and master data management initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational data governance standards

Documentation and Training
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation supporting Cogito applications and reporting solutions
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute testing plans
  • Partner with IT educators to maintain training plans, educational materials, and user documentation
  • Support ongoing knowledge transfer and user education initiatives

Marginal or Periodic Functions
  • Conduct training sessions for analysts and clinical staff supporting enterprise reporting tools

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of seven years of experience managing technical projects within a healthcare or enterprise IT environment
  • Hands-on experience with Epic Cogito tools, including Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, Radar, SlicerDicer, and Cogito SQL Reporting
  • Proficiency developing and supporting Microsoft SSIS packages for Cogito Extracts
  • Experience supporting Epic implementation, reporting, analytics, or enterprise data warehouse initiatives
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data models, clinical workflows, operational reporting, and business intelligence
  • Proficiency with SQL and healthcare data analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Epic Cogito Cloud or cloud-based analytics environments
  • Strong SQL, ETL, and enterprise data warehousing experience utilizing Clarity and Caboodle
