Overview

Rice Insurance Services Center, now a part of Gallagher, has specialized in state-mandated real estate E&O programs since 1989. We provide the group policies in the 15 states that have group programs and require real estate licensees to maintain insurance. We handle all aspects of the programs, providing ease and consistency throughout the entire process, from obtaining coverage to claims resolution. Rice Insurance Services Center has an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Claims Adjuster. The Senior Claims Adjuster manages insurance claims to determine the extent and legitimacy of claims and issue benefits as jurisdictionally required. This is a highly detailed role and is an end-to-end claims role.


How you'll make an impact
  • Investigates claims for merit and legitimacy by gathering documentation from all affected parties, identifies and verifies damage to person or property either through statements or on-site investigations or meetings with clients. Establishes appropriate pricing of claims based on research and analysis.
  • Notifies clients of results of investigations. Discusses lines of authority for specific claims resolution. Makes recommendations for settlements or denial of claims.  Processes denials.
  • Negotiates claims with claimants and or claimants’ legal counsel.
  • Properly reserves funds. Adjusts client claim reserves appropriately.  Obtains required releases for finalization of claims.
  • Maintains post-litigation files.
  • Reviews rates, rules and regulations to ensure that claims practices correctly follow standards and laws.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About You

Required:

  • High school diploma and 5 years related claims experience required.
  • Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled or able to obtain the licenses/certification per local requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices.
  • Computer experience with related claims and business software.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 4-8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelors Degree with at least one year of additional legal education or experience in a legal or errors and omissions professional liability field required.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) preferred.
  • Knowledge of legal concepts, claims handling, and insurance industry.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and solid communication, writing, and negotiation skills.
  • Must also have the ability to manage a high case load independently and to interact well with all levels of internal and external business partners.
