Total Loss Auto Adjuster
$23.27 - $28.84 / hour
Job Level: Individual Contributor
Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Please remember that this range is the starting base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position.
What You Will Be Doing:
The Total Loss Auto Adjuster analyzes, evaluates, and settles insurance claims involving automobile material damage losses. Determines value of the physical damage claim and negotiates settlements within prescribed limits of authority, in accordance with established procedures and consistent with legal and contractual obligations. May be assigned duties regarding catastrophe teams for auto losses. Required to evaluate and settle auto total loss claims.
This position is in-office at our Topeka Regional Office
Consumer Reports may be ordered on final candidate.
What We're Looking For:
  • Requires excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Superior skills in negotiation, communication and customer service are required.
  • Ability to learn on-the-job and through claims training courses of insurance policy coverage analysis and interpretation, and motor vehicle estimating.
  • Must exhibit strong skills in technology to include keyboarding and familiarity with word processing software, electronic communications, automobile estimating software, and internet research capabilities.
  • Requires good basic but advancing knowledge of automobile repair.
  • Will be required to acquire and maintain state licenses as applicable.
  • A minimum of two years general business experience is preferred in an insurance setting, demonstrating experience in organization, communication, negotiation, and decision-making.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
