Senior Accounting Clerk Location: Irvine, CA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Industry: Technology Compensation: $50,000 – $70,000 annually + bonus


About the Role Our client, a growing technology company based in Irvine, CA, is looking for a Senior Accounting Clerk to join their finance team. This role is focused primarily on accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, supporting the day-to-day transactional accounting needs of the business. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys ownership over AP/AR processes and wants to grow within a stable, collaborative team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, matching, and timely payment processing
  • Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, cash application, and collections follow-up
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Monitor AR aging and proactively follow up on past-due accounts
  • Set up new vendors and customers, ensuring accurate W-9/tax documentation
  • Reconcile AP and AR sub-ledgers to the general ledger monthly
  • Process employee expense reports and ensure compliance with company policy
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to AP/AR, including accruals
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and support external audit requests as needed
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve AP/AR processes
  • Provide support to the broader accounting team on ad hoc projects as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree a plus but not required
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable
  • Strong working knowledge of full-cycle AP and AR processes
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP) and experience with ERP/accounting software (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage a high volume of transactions with accuracy and efficiency
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well cross-functionally
