Job description

Job Description
Description
SAIC is seeking an Electronic Warfare Systems Engineer Senior to support the Expeditionary Electromagnetic Warfare Division at NSWC Crane and the Joint Counter - Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device EW (JCREW) program. This position will be responsible for the development of Signal Processing Engineering - algorithms, waveforms, and mission-load content for communications, networking, and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. The selected candidate will design, model, implement, and test algorithm concepts through software for RF and EW applications. Additionally, this role involves performing radio frequency protocol analysis, evaluating waveform behaviors, and supporting diagnostic testing to resolve complex technical issues on Navy EW platforms.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop signal processing algorithms, waveforms, and mission-load content for communications, networking, and Electronic Warfare systems.
  • Design, model, implement, and test algorithm concepts through software for RF and EW applications.
  • Perform analysis of radio frequency communication protocols and signal behaviors to support threat-load and mission-signal development.
  • Develop, test, and deliver RF signal solutions for Navy Electronic Warfare systems.
  • Use lab instrumentation such as spectrum analyzers and related RF test equipment to evaluate complex waveforms and signal characteristics.
  • Conduct analysis of Navy EW systems and support diagnostics and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues.
  • Support unit, subsystem, and system-level testing for EW systems, including test preparation, execution, and documentation.
  • Coordinate system updates and configuration changes in collaboration with OEMs, Government engineers, and integrated technical teams.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation supporting configuration management, test execution, and software/system changes.
  • Support broader software engineering and test activities aligned to the SOW, including integration, troubleshooting, requirements-based verification, and performance assessment of mission systems.

Qualifications
Education Level: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in RF engineering, signal processing, waveform development, SDR, software-enabled communications analysis, or EW systems support.
  • Strong experience in signal processing, RF protocol analysis, and waveform development.
  • Experience implementing technical concepts in software using tools such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar engineering languages. This aligns to the original requirement for strong software coding experience and MATLAB application.
  • Experience with RF test equipment and RF theory, including evaluation of waveforms and signal behavior.
  • Experience programming or working with software-defined radios (SDRs).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems involving RF systems, signals, software behavior, and integrated test environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Electronic Warfare, counter-UAS, counter-IED, radar, spectrum operations, or mission-system development.
  • Experience with DSP, FPGA-based systems, embedded signal-processing environments, or hardware-in-the-loop style test support.
  • Experience with configuration management, technical baseline control, and documentation in a controlled engineering environment.
  • Experience supporting lab and field test events, including system integration, performance evaluation, and technical issue resolution.
