The Sawmill Manager oversees the Sawmill & Sawmill Maintenance, ensuring strong performance in safety, engagement, quality, and production. This role leads daily operations, models safe behavior, and drives a positive, high-performing culture. The ideal candidate communicates effectively, solves problems quickly, multitasks well, and operates with a consistent sense of urgency while guiding teams toward continuous improvement and operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Safety First - 24/7
    • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
    • Take personal responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others.
    • Actively participate in safety huddles and utilize the Safety Observation System (SOS).
    • Promptly report unsafe conditions and behaviors.
    • Consistently use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
  • Communication & Leadership
    • Follow the established communication plan by ensuring daily huddles and site meetings take place.
    • Share relevant data with the team, including metrics, safety information, and company updates.
    • Actively listen and communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
    • Celebrate team successes, both large and small.
    • Present effectively to peers and employees.

    • Read and interpret financial statements and understand their connection to profitability.
    • Use Excel to develop spreadsheets, charts, and graphs to represent data.
    • Organize multiple tasks effectively and maintain accurate documentation of coaching discussions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED. Post secondary education preferred.
  • Sawmill Manufacturing: 5 years (Required)
  • Manufacturing management: 5 years (Required)

REPETITIVE PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Lift 60# from floor to waist; lift 40# from waist to shoulder.
  • Carry 60# over a distance exceeding 12 feet.
  • Push 60# in a wheeled cart.
  • Stand on a cement floor for long periods of time.
  • Bend, stoop, or squat to floor level repeatedly.
  • Reach overhead to grasp materials.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs to access machinery.
  • Employees are required to wear safety glasses and hearing protection.
