Director, Category Management – Equine Company Overview

The Opportunity

Chewy is seeking a Director, Category Management – Equine to lead and scale Chewy’s Equine business. This role serves as the general manager with end-to-end ownership of category strategy, execution, and financial performance. As P&L owner, this leader drives revenue growth, margin expansion, and customer engagement while influencing across Chewy’s matrix organization.

What You’ll Do

• Own end-to-end P&L including revenue, margin, inventory, and promotions
• Define and execute category growth and profitability strategies
• Lead and develop a high-performing category management team
• Partner cross-functionally across Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Technology
• Build and manage strategic vendor partnerships
• Use analytics and insights to optimize performance
• Identify innovation and expansion opportunities
• Establish KPIs and operating rhythms
• Serve as equine industry subject-matter expert
• Champion Chewy’s leadership principles

What You’ll Need

• 12+ years experience in e-commerce, retail, or consumer products
• Proven P&L ownership and scaling experience
• Deep category management and vendor negotiation expertise
• Strong financial, analytical, and leadership skills
• Ability to influence in a matrixed organization
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred

Bonus Qualifications

• Equine-focused brand or retail experience
• Personal involvement in the equine community
• Background in animal health or supplements

Work Location

Plymouth, MA | Hybrid (2+ days onsite)

The base salary range for this role is $186,500 - $297,500.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
