Overview

The Operations Intern at Moody Center willย work alongside professionals in theย liveย entertainment,ย sports,ย andย venueย managementย industryย at a top arena.ย This internship will provide experience withย facility operations and event execution. Interns will gain working knowledge ofย how toย transform the arena to meet the needs of upcoming events andย beย involved inย facility operations practices such as inventory management, conversions,ย material handling, and a variety of event-related tasks.ย ย 

This role pays an hourly rate of $13.00

This role is expected to last from August 17, 2026, and will end on December 18, 2026.

This position will remain open until October 16, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Learn andย participateย in the arena conversion process alongside the Operations team, including setup and teardown of flooring, seating, barricades, staging, and event equipment.ย 
  • Gain hands-on experience supporting daily facility operations such as receiving deliveries, transporting materials, andย maintainingย supply levels to ensure event readiness.ย 
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts byย assistingย with updates to standard operating procedures and departmental documentation.ย 
  • Take part in event operations byย assistingย withย logisticsย and responding to operational needs throughout the eventย day.ย 
  • Shadow various departments during eventsย aligned toย intern'sย interest (including Security, Guest Services, Event Services, Sustainability, etc.)ย 
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekendsย and holidays, as neededย 
  • Perform strenuous physical duties at times, including lifting, carrying,ย movingย and climbingย 

Learning Objectives:ย By the end of the internship, the operations internย will be able to:ย 

  • Apply knowledge of facility operations byย participatingย in the full arena conversion process for a variety of live events.ย 
  • Demonstrate proper safety practices and equipment handling while completing operational tasks, including material movement, staging, and event setup.ย 
  • Strengthen problem-solving abilities by identifyingย issues, evaluating potential solutions, and responding quickly to operational challenges.ย 
  • Build teamwork and communication skills by collaborating effectively with operations staff in a fast-paced environment.ย 
  • Demonstrate reliability and professionalism while working independently and managing high-volume workloads during peak event periods.ย 
  • Grow confidence working in a live events environment that requires problem-solving, flexibility, and strong teamwork.ย 
Qualifications
  • Interns must be currently enrolled as students at an accredited institution, which may include trade schools, community/junior colleges, or undergraduate or graduate programs.ย ย 
  • Interest in live events, sports facilities, venue operations, or a related field of study/interest.ย 
  • Willingness to learn new skills, be open to coaching /taking feedback, and follow safety instructions from trained staff.ย 
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills with a positive attitude toward helping others.ย 
  • Ability to stay organized, manage time effectively, and ask questions when clarification is needed.ย 
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks such as lifting, walking long distances, climbing, and working in aย hands-onย setting.ย 
  • Prior experience in sports, entertainment, or another operational role is helpful but notย required.ย 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.ย 
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work in aย team setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)ย
