They bridge the gap between a company's sales and engineering departments, ensuring that customer needs are accurately understood and addressed. Their responsibilities include managing the sales engineering team, collaborating with sales representatives, providing technical expertise during sales processes, and assisting with product demonstrations or solution design. Additionally, they often play a key role in training staff and developing strategies to improve customer satisfaction and sales effectiveness.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sales engineering manager?

To thrive as a Sales Engineering Manager, you need a solid background in engineering or technical sales, leadership experience, and a relevant degree in engineering or business. Aleut Federal is seeking a senior, market-facing technical leader specializing in Salesforce platform solutions to drive digital transformation across U.S. federal agencies.

This role operates across the full lifecycle - from opportunity shaping and technical solutioning through capture, proposal development, pricing, and post-award delivery assurance. The successful candidate will serve as a technical authority in client engagements while directly influencing technical win strategies and solution differentiation.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on Salesforce architect who can design mission‑facing platforms, lead enterprise implementations, and translate platform capabilities into measurable operational and citizen service outcomes.

This is a build, sell, and validate role with clear expectations for growth impact and delivery credibility.

Core Responsibilities

Growth, Sales Engineering & Solutioning

  • Lead technical solutioning for Salesforce‑based federal opportunities, including citizen services and case management platforms, customer engagement transformation, and Public Sector Solutions implementations.
  • Directly influence and help drive technical wins by defining discriminators and technical win themes, leading customer‑facing solution discussions, whiteboarding sessions, and demos, and translating Salesforce capabilities into service and mission outcomes.
  • Partner with Business Development and Capture teams to shape opportunities pre‑RFP and position Aleut Federal competitively.
  • Act as a technical leader in client engagements, presenting and defending architectural decisions.

AI-Enabled Engineering (Required)

  • Aleut Federal expects AI to be embedded into all Salesforce‑based solutions as a core capability for both growth and delivery.
  • Design and implement AI‑enabled CRM and case management solutions, including intelligent case routing and prioritization, predictive service outcomes and workload forecasting, and automated citizen engagement and response generation.
  • Leverage Salesforce AI capabilities such as Einstein and integrate external AI/LLM services where appropriate.
  • Implement AI‑driven multi‑step workflows and decision support patterns with human‑in‑the‑loop controls where required.
  • Required: use of AI within CRM or workflow platforms. Strongly preferred for Senior Principal: delivery of AI‑enabled CRM or case management solutions in production with measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure AI implementations align with federal requirements for security, privacy, transparency, and auditability.
  • Lead and contribute to technical proposal development for Salesforce opportunities.
  • Author and own complete technical sections, including architecture, integration strategy, implementation approach, and platform operating model.
  • Build BOEs aligned to implementation complexity, integration effort, licensing, and scaling considerations.
  • Ensure solutions are executable, cost‑aligned, and differentiated.

Delivery Assurance & Technical QA

  • Ensure alignment between proposed Salesforce solutions and delivery execution.
  • Provide technical oversight during design, configuration, development, and deployment phases.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to over‑customization, integration challenges, performance, and scalability.

Technical Marketing, Thought Leadership & Industry Engagement

  • Develop Salesforce‑focused solution briefs, use cases, and capability messaging.
  • Actively participate in external engagements, including industry events, partner forums, client briefings, and internal team sessions, and be willing to speak and demonstrate solutions live.
  • Position Aleut Federal as a credible Salesforce public sector and federal partner.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship only.
  • 7+ years of U.S. federal experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting Salesforce solutions across multiple clouds.
  • Experience supporting technical solutioning, capture efforts, and proposal development.
  • Ability to obtain a Position of Public Trust.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce Public Sector Solutions (PSS).
  • Experience supporting large‑scale federal implementations.
  • Experience integrating Salesforce with enterprise and cloud systems.
  • Experience implementing AI‑enabled CRM capabilities.

Certifications (Desired, Representative of Level)

  • Salesforce Platform Developer I / II
  • Salesforce Application Architect or System Architect
  • Salesforce Public Sector Solutions credential (if applicable)

Position Profile Summary

  • Platform‑focused (Salesforce)
  • Growth‑driven with direct impact on technical wins
  • Hands‑on and delivery accountable
  • AI‑enabled and automation‑focused
  • Mission and user experience‑oriented

Salary Range: $150,000–$225,000
