The Role  

StarRez is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Sales Development Representative (SDR). In this role, you are the fuel behind our sales engine-responsible for generating pipeline and accelerating business growth. Whether this is your first job out of college or you're transitioning into a career in sales, you'll learn foundational skills, get hands-on coaching, and gain exposure to the fast-paced world of tech sales.

Role Specifics  

  • Work Location: Remote, US  
  • Travel: 5% (The percentage of travel is an estimation, and it could vary up or down based on business needs throughout the year.) 
  • Compensation Structure: In addition to the base salary listed below, this role is eligible for a bonus/commission plan.
  • Reporting Structure: This role reports to the Director, Sales Development.

 What You Will Own  

  • Research accounts and contacts-primarily in the higher education and student property markets-to understand roles, challenges, and goals  
  • Craft and send personalized prospecting emails to engage ideal customers  
  • Make outbound phone calls and build rapport with prospective customers  
  • Utilize Salesforce, HubSpot, cold calling, social media, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, email, and referrals to connect with potential leads  
  • Set up meetings or calls between qualified prospects and Account Executives  
  • Understand StarRez products, solutions, value propositions, and customer pain points  
  • Overcome objections and stay informed on competitive offerings and market trends  
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Enablement teams to align on outreach strategies and messaging  
  • Meet or exceed monthly goals for pipeline generation, bookings sourced, and outreach activity  
  • Report regularly to Sales leadership on progress through weekly and monthly updates, team meetings, and huddles  
  • Identify opportunities to improve tools, suggest new technologies, and refine workflows to increase results  
  • Continuously update your outreach approach, experimenting with new tactics to drive performance  

Required Qualifications  

  • Interest in sales or customer-facing roles  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and engaging via email and social channels  
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently in a remote setting  
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage priorities and meet deadlines  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)  
  • Coachable, eager to learn, and open to feedback  
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset  

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Experience in higher education or student housing environments  
  • 1+ year in B2B sales, cold calling, or lead generation  
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, HubSpot, and/or Gong 
  • Exposure to StarRez software or similar platforms  
  • Understanding of the student lifecycle or PropTech industry  
  • Process-driven and structured in your work  
  • Experience using LinkedIn Sales Navigator or sales engagement tools  
  • Experience leveraging AI-powered tools to enhance prospecting, research, outreach, and efficiency 
  • Desire to grow a career in SaaS sales
