Job description

The Sales Analytics Specialist drives data-informed decision-making across the Business Development and Sales organizations. This role translates complex sales, customer, and financial data into actionable insights to support business growth, sales productivity, customer profitability, and market expansion. The manager works closely with Business Development and Sales leadership to optimize sales strategies—covering pipeline management, revenue optimization, pricing and promotion effectiveness, and forecasting—to improve performance and profitability. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with teams including Sales, Business Development, Revenue Management, and IT, ensuring analytics initiatives directly inform and influence commercial strategy and execution.

Analytics & Insights
• Business Performance Analytics: Develop and maintain robust analytics frameworks to monitor sales and business development performance – including pipeline velocity, revenue growth, margin improvement, and sales productivity – identifying trends, risks, and opportunities in customer execution, retention, and market expansion strategies.
• Insight Generation: Translate large and complex datasets (sales, customer behavior, pricing, and Ordering data) into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that drive strategic decision-making and revenue growth. Conduct deep dive analyses to uncover root causes of performance gaps and suggest corrective actions or new growth opportunities.

Sales & Business Development Performance
• Performance Management: Create scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track sales productivity, pipeline health, new business development outcomes, and account performance against targets. Evaluate sales and business development results against goals, identifying shortfalls or best practices, and work with leaders to drive improvements in conversion rates, customer win rates, and territory or channel performance.
• Commercial Support: Provide analytical support during business reviews and strategic planning sessions, including customer and portfolio analyses (e.g., segment performance, customer profitability, product mix) to inform account strategy, market prioritization, and resource allocation.

Forecasting & Planning
• Sales Forecasting: Utilize statistical techniques and data modeling to support accurate sales forecasting and demand planning. Work closely with Sales Operations and Finance to develop forecast models that incorporate historical trends, pipeline analytics, and market intelligence, driving clarity in target setting and sales planning.
• Strategic Planning: Partner with Business Development on long-range planning and scenario analysis for market expansion, new product introductions, and strategic initiatives, ensuring forecasts and business cases are grounded in data and aligned with overall growth objectives.
Reporting & Dashboards (Power BI and Excel)
• Dashboard Development: Design, build, and maintain automated dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time visibility of key sales and business development metrics for senior leadership. Ensure reports effectively cover revenue and margin trends, pipeline status, customer segment performance, and sales team KPIs.
• Data Quality & Accessibility: Oversee data integrity across CRM, Margin Minder, and BI systems, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility for all analytics outputs. Work with IT and data teams to continuously improve data sources supporting sales analytics.
• Executive Reporting: Communicate insights in clear business terms by translating technical analysis into compelling narratives, visualizations, and presentations for executive and field audiences, highlighting actionable opportunities and progress towards sales goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Interdepartmental Partnership: Collaborate closely with Sales, Business Development, Finance, Revenue Growth Management, Marketing, and IT teams to integrate analytics into commercial initiatives. Serve as the subject matter expert on sales data and analytics, ensuring analytics considerations are embedded in cross-functional projects (e.g., pricing strategy, promotional effectiveness, supply planning for sales forecasts).

• Commercial & Sales Knowledge: Strong understanding of sales processes and business development strategies. Familiarity with B2B sales dynamics (e.g., sales pipeline stages, account management, pricing and promotions) and ability to align analytics with go-to-market and growth strategy. Experience in consumer goods or similar industries is a plus.
• Analytical & Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in data analysis and business intelligence tools – e.g., Microsoft Excel (with complex formulas and modeling), BI platforms (such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.). Proven experience handling large, complex datasets from multiple sources (including CRM/ERP data) and performing data mining, predictive analytics, and forecasting.
• Communication & Influence: Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex data into clear, concise insights and executive-level presentations. Proven capability to influence decision-making without direct authority, facilitating data-driven discussions and gaining buy-in from cross-functional leaders and external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Leadership & Work Style: Self-motivated and proactive problem solver with strong project management and prioritization abilities. Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. A continuous improvement mindset with high attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity and quality.

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Analytics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree or MBA is a plus).
• 2+ years of relevant experience in sales analytics, business intelligence, or commercial insights roles. Experience supporting Sales or Business Development teams is highly desirable. Experience leading analytics projects or mentoring analysts is a plus, indicating readiness for a manager-level role.
