Job Description
The Rotational Engineer is a developmental position designed to build a well-rounded engineering and operations professional within the Water Solutions business segment. Over a one to three year period, the employee completes a structured series of field-based and office-based rotations spanning pipeline operations, Salt Water Disposal (SWD) well facility operations, control room operations, and engineering. The position cultivates a strong understanding of the Water Solutions business segment and requires adaptability, an entrepreneurial approach, and strong business acumen.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete a structured series of field-based and office-based rotational assignments, typically one to three years in total duration, across pipeline operations, SWD well facility operations, control room operations, and engineering.
  • Pipeline Operations rotation (field): support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and integrity of NGL's produced water pipeline network.
  • SWD Well Facility Operations rotation (field): support the operation and maintenance of salt water disposal well facilities, including pumps, tanks, injection equipment, and related infrastructure.
  • Control Room rotation (office): remotely monitor pipeline and SWD facility operations across all sites, respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, and coordinate with field personnel.
  • Engineering rotation (office): work with the engineering team on optimization projects and initiatives to increase equipment efficiency.
  • Become a champion of NGL's pipeline and Salt Water Disposal (SWD) network and operations.
  • Analyze operational data, volume forecasts, and Opex to identify optimization and equipment efficiency opportunities.
  • Prepares and delivers status reports and rotation learnings to Operations and Engineering Management.
  • Understands and adheres to applicable Federal, State and local environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements.
  • Researches and stays abreast of innovation and new developments in relevant areas.
  • Regular attendance at the assigned worksite is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong business acumen with ability to learn Water Solutions business operations quickly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced competency in mathematics, including calculus.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with ability to work with an executive audience.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and enterprise information systems.
  • Strong drive to cultivate leadership skills, share knowledge, and contribute to operational improvement.
  • Strong desire to develop broad knowledge of engineering and operations in the oil and gas industry.
  • Ability to be a positive representative of the Company both internally and externally at all time.
  • Ability to work with respect and cooperation with fellow employees, customers, and business associates.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work in both field and office environments and to change work locations as rotation assignments require.
  • Must be committed to working safely at all times.

Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, petroleum, chemical, etc.)
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Travel:
Travel requirements vary by rotation assignment. Field-based rotations require regular travel to, or presence at, field locations where environment may vary significantly.

  • Regularly in an office environment during office-based rotations and in outdoor field environments at pipeline and SWD facilities during field-based rotations, with exposure to varying weather conditions, mechanical equipment, and noise levels that may require hearing protection. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office and moderate to high at field locations.

This position is required to be performed at the work site during regularly scheduled hours. Physical presence at the work site is required.
