Job description

Summary or Purpose Assemble, install, maintain and repair pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Shown are duties intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Locate and repair plumbing problems in NSB and approved residential buildings in accordance with mechanical and plumbing codes. Install and repair plumbing fixtures.

Monitor pressure gages while filling pipe system with water or air to determine whether system's leaking. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on NSB facilities and residential buildings. Periodical duties such as carpentry and basic maintenance.

Travel to and work within NSB villages to perform services as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Borough policies and procedures.

Skill in the use of tools, materials, and equipment used in the plumbing trade. Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience. Two year of plumbing maintenance experience; State of Alaska Plumber Certification or License required; Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria
