Job description

The Compromise Fraud Strategy team is looking for a high-performing Manager to drive innovation in Compromise fraud risk area. The candidate will be responsible for identifying innovative and actionable insights on compromise detection solutions that would have a meaningful impact on our customers and our business. It will also include deploying strategies that will have a direct impact on fraud loss savings. The candidate will collaborate closely with internal and external partners to drive innovation in this exciting space.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate / master's degree in science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science

  • Experience with data processing tools such as R, SQL, or Python 

  • Understanding of statistical techniques related to data analysis and correlation

  • Ability to manage multiple requests and changing priorities and to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment

  • Proven track record of working proactively and independently to solve problems and drive results

  • Strong presentation skills to convey data and fraud insights to different stakeholders

  • Ability to build collaborative, trusting relationships

  • Strong project management and communication skills to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms

  • Working knowledge of fraud landscape and emerging fraud trends in the card space 

  • Understanding of payment products, emerging technologies and competitive landscape

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions. 

  • Develop new fraud prevention control strategies using compromise intelligence.

  • Minimize unprofitable fraud related disruptions, with specific focus on fraud strategy controls.

  • Conceptualize and implement new data features which would help in reducing approved fraud.

  • Address emerging fraud trends and monitor key metrics to take corrective actions.

  • Provide thought leadership to find new ways of detection compromise.

  • Integration of new data sources to improve compromise detection methods. 

  • Partner with Product, Technology, Servicing and Information Security teams.

  • Lead data science research for compromise data attributes
